DeLasalle Oaklands and Etobicoke Crusaders = Oakland Crusaders (short term success) Seneca Princemen and Toronto Optimist = Seneca Optimists (short term success) Add more please Livingston Imperial Guardsmen (GSC corps) and Old Bridge Dukes merged around 1973 to become the Dukes of the Imperial Guard or something...but then just went back to the Imperial Guardsmen after a year or so. Wayne (NJ) Monarchs and Greenwood Lake (NY) Lakers (both GSC corps) merged in mid-season 1976 to become the King's Regiment. In 1977 came in 2nd in the GSC, but faded quickly after that. ajlisko
I remember judging Fantasia III in 80 and 81 ... nice GSC corps ... in CT, the Emerald Bucs in 74 or 75 were a merger of St. Raphael's Bucs and the Emerald Cadets ... I don't remember the Trumbull Cadets merging with the Emerald Cadets ... I thought they morphed into the Bengal Lancers ... Good stuff ... :-)
Northern Thunder
The Emerald Bucs were active under that name for just the 1976 season. The Emerald Cadets were still using the Emerald Cadet name for the 1975 season. The Bengal Lancers evolved from the Trumbull Lancers, which was separate from the Trumbull Cadets. LabMaster
I don't remember Boston Crusaders ever formally "merging" with another corps. BAC (for lack of a better term) absorbed other corps as drum corps in eastern Mass. was declining. One "absorbtion" was not the Guardsman that I recall. I recall they absorbed Alliance and later absorbed (sort of) The Valley Airs. BAC was approached by another local corps, The Sancians,to merge, back in 1974, but just before it came together, BAC refused the merger. There were a few other attempts to get BAC to agree to mergers but BAC stubbornly rebuffed the advances and fortunately for them it has worked out. Not quite so fortunate for many many other good corps.

Good stuff ... :-) Mergers: Vauge memories of Dumont Police Cadets and Our Lady of Lourdes Cadets merging with Fairlawn Police Cadets and pieces of several other North Jersey corps for a HUGE enytry at the 1964 World Open. 1964 Cihcago' Spartans were a merger corps of Morton Grove Cougars and the Chi-Angels. I believe it lasted one year and then folded. Skokie Vanguard benefited from that merger coming unstuck. Bridgeport CT's two big guns St Raphael's Buccnaeers and PAL Cadets attempted a 1968 late season merger but it failed. (Andy Lisko can give chapter and verse on this one".) Many more mergers in senior and junior corps. Northern Thunder can no doubt name them all!!!!!!!
