We stayed at the Omni last year via the BD block, but I'd love to meet for an adult beverage and listen to stories about drum corps UK! DeanInChicago
Welcome to Indy. The Alexander is a fine hotel. However, it is immediately south and next to railroad tracks. You may hear screeching wheels as the slow moving freight lumbers by the hotel throughout the day and night. Otherwise, you are near the Slippery Noodle -- a great hang out -- between the hotel and Lucas Oil.
2B or not 2B
Three other Navy guy's and I drove from Pensacola, FL (Northwest Florida) to Garfield, NJ over the week end for the Garfield Invitational once. Left Friday morning, Show Sat. Night, Left show for trip back. (OOOPS Sorry to intrude! But, I could not resist one of my behind the scene's things of "Drum Corps Life" of over 47 years active.)

M notorious snoring is supposed to obliterate the sounds of the trains.
drumcorpsfever
We usually stay about 7 miles from downtown Indy. As much as I'd love to stay downtown, it's crazy expensive - especially since we're there for all of the events. Hotel prices (and parking) seem to have raised with the attendance numbers for the DCI event - not sure, but just a hunch. One year, we could have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express right next to LOS for about $100 a night. Now, you can't even get a room there - it's booked.
