xandandl
It was what is called here a typical Channel 8 weather forecast calling for the end of the world, urging the re-building of Noah's Ark, and calling for wellington's and hipsters on anyone daring to go outside. The reality was everything was dry by parade time or at worst a half hour after parades step offs were supposed to begin prior to all the Sunday night cancellation announcements. Sun came out but no parades. Sad reality is than none of the wars whose lost and injured are remembered this day, particularly in Lincoln's solemn declaration, were ever cancelled by getting wet from rain. MaybeTV should stop hiring the histrionic glamour gals and guys from the Sunbelt States to forecast and broadcast weather in New England and the Northeast. (Life doesn't end due to a snow flurry.) Perhaps apt time to repost this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdJOuIjCShY Edited May 31, 2016 by xandandl
xandandl
Just realized that given the rained out parades and my own convalescence, it was my first Memorial Day without drum corps since 1966. Wow.
Big Adam
The Hawthorne parade was held as scheduled. No rain. Quite humid, and the sun poked out for a while... but no rain. And no....there will be no review. LOL. As soon as Cabs Alumni were done (they led off the parade)... Brenda and I headed for home. Well I saw the Cabs this weekend and they were amazing, so well prepared for this time of year. Great sound, real aggressive Caballero show and lots of fun to watch in a parade.
