RedJazz1900 Posted July 20, 2016 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Just wondering who you think, at this point in the season, will be a dark horse? (A corps who surges at the end) My thoughts: - SCV. I see them continuing to build momentum and emotion, and adding effective changes. I know they have some tricks up their sleeve. I honestly can see Bluecoats fading a little bit, which would open the door for Vanguard to move into 3rd. - Academy. I think their show is gaining so much energy simply from the fan base. Clearly they have the talent, the design is really unique and fun, and I could see the energy of the audience really helping the corps throughout the regionals and into prelims. - Blue Stars. Same analysis as Academy. Strong corps and audience is getting into it. - Colts. I really liked what I saw the other night. Blue Stars - They've beaten some good corps recently (BK and Madison) that were both ahead of them last year while IMO being dirtier visually. They have more room to grow in that caption and (again IMO) their show has more effect in the storyline. Academy - They have pieced the performing arts like show (designs the last couple of years) into a phenomenal show. This could possibly take 11th or 12th and upset someone that's expecting to play Saturday night. SCV or Cadets - currently I am not sure which one it will be but while they fight each other I think one will make the correct adjustment in the next couple weeks that puts them into the medal talks. Cadets show will either explode or implode as Corpsband said a while back. Not sure SA is where a dark horse emerges..Cadets show is a raw weird show that may take off once it's performed. Plaqued with numerous re writes which had held back brass, percussion from refining.
