Beware of Stubhub Finals Tickets!
Fievel replied to Fievel's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I'm going through Stubhub on this until the end - I want them to handle this as a fraudulent listing. Other options for us are maybe watching Prelims live and then staying overnight to watch Bluecoats/others in the lot during Semis. We'll see. We have time to figure it out. Better now than later! 😂 -
Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago I purchased DCI World Championships Finals tickets (event starting at 5:30pm). I can't find any record of the seller's username, otherwise I'd include it here. These were a high school graduation present for my son (HUGE Bluecoats fan and his former HS classmate marches there). I sent him a text message as he sat across the room from me of a picture of the view from our section (139) that said "you and me, 8/8/26." He cried and I cried because he cried. You know how it goes. He even asked if we could go down a day early to watch the horn line in the lot for Semis. Of course we could! It was going to be a blast before he heads off to college. In a thread on Reddit, someone pointed out that DCI had double-booked some seats and were relocating people (to much worse seats, of course!). I asked in the thread if anyone knew what sections were affected because I got my tickets from Stubhub and would likely not get this notification. Someone replied stating not to buy tickets from Stubhub because last year they bought tickets for World Class Finals and were sent All Age Finals tickets. They found out at the show. I went to my tickets received at Ticketmaster and saw my tickets.....for All Age Finals at 10am. I rechecked my Stubhub emails and the words "All Age" were nowhere in the receipt. They were nowhere in my Stubhub account. Everything said World Championships starting at 5:30pm. I contacted Stubhub and after digging into it they attempted to call the seller. Would you believe it went straight to voicemail? Per their selling agreement, the seller has until......August 8 at 11:30am to respond. My son is crushed. I'm devastated and embarrassed. My whole point in this post is this - BEWARE OF STUBHUB TICKETS!! This has happened in the past and will happen again. Thankfully I found out in May and not when trying to enter the venue. Be careful, everyone. Learn from others' experiences.

....and yet the kids that give up their summers, pay thousands of dollars, and train so hard to put the product on the field.....love what they do.

According to the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 29.5 million people ages 12 and older (10.6% in this age group) had AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) in the past year. But by all means, let's celebrate a show about alcohol in a youth activity. Patiently awaiting next year's shows: -YOLO - An Escapade In Black Tar Heroin -Let's All Have A Smoke! -Cocaineopolis -Fentanyl - Candy For The Soul (In Three Parts) Back to hibernation for another ten years.

15 year old Snare Drummer in DIV I
Fievel replied to Jeffe77's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In 1989 I began my freshman year of high school and had just finished my rookie year of drum corps. The younger of those two brothers (E.R.) was a senior at my high school and had long given up drumming. I geeked out one day and approached him and tried to talk to him about it. He politely acknowledged his time in the Bluecoats' snare line but said that was a long time ago. And that was that. Never to be brought up again. Didn't stop me from looking at him with wide-eyed amazement every time I saw him in the halls, though. -
Also Pioneer Indoor. And do not forget that NorthCoast Academy comes from the same organization that once held the Northern Aurora Drum & Bugle Corps (Saginaires).
-
Historically speaking, they went alongside each other hand in hand without a problem for almost the entire 20th century through the various circuits until corps directors began to forbid their members from competing. Really, what was the problem?
-
If your corps ever had a free day in New Orleans, you had memorable moments, and none of them can be posted here.
-
But if they were to leave DCI and just be in an organization with the 7, how could they quantify such a statement? "We are the best of..... EACH OTHER!!! (even though there are 15 or so other groups out there that we will no longer compete against to fully determine whether or not we truly are the best)"

I think when it's a 5th place show from 24 years ago, no matter how awesome it was, that the title of "re-do" does not apply. -
Shows we will never see

Like everyone is saying, great summer for music. Madison - forgot about the almost-falling tenors. Great show. Cadets and Blue Devils - both had "odd" years as far as placements were concerned that summer, but both had fantastic shows. SCV - I still liked the ending with the crosses covering the field (unless that's only in my head... and I'm not too proud to admit that's a possibility) Blue Knights - Was that the summer the corps performed at an NFL game halftime (It was a night game - Sunday Night? Monday Night?) a week or two after Finals? Or was it '92?

This isn't from Dayton (both Prelims & Finals are out there, but...), but it's a good shot of that moment. Fast-forward to 4:06 to get into it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pnO-0Fh-L4

Dynasty marching percussion , new colors and chrome !

Here is the best picture I could find of my drum from '92. What you can't see is the "wonderful" hollow top hoop that had a plastic insert nestled inside it. Cutting edge stuff, indeed. I'll take the current design over the original any day of the week!
