Most Beautiful Ballads by Corps - Since 1999
HockeyDad replied to jfcadets's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
<Gasp> There is no such thing as a forgotten Chuck Naffier arrangement! Now you march right upstairs and wash your mouth out with soap, young man. Then listen to 1993 Colts until you can stop misbehaving! -

I guess the OP should have asked for the best ballads since the year 2000 instead of the best ballads in the past 25 years, as it’s clear some of you don’t get the maths. Otherwise we could add the largo from New World Symphony by ‘89 Phantom Regiment. Or ‘89 BD (non frack version). I mean, you could pick a couple from every year! -

When Judges Go Bad: Who Really Should Have Won
HockeyDad replied to hostrauser's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
There’s only like ten people posting here in the offseason and you want something moved to the historical section, where no one posts? Nah. I would rather post everything here in the world class discussion. -
In second place, …. which is actually a tie for first…. <Pandemonium Ensues>

Controversial DCI (Finals) Shows
HockeyDad replied to verzephobe's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Seems like if you’re under a NDA, you are likely no longer with the organization with which you have it. Kind of like whistleblowers. Might be vindicated but likely have left the company. Too much bad blood. So - the idea of witnessing a crime within that same organization would appear to be unlikely, since you probably wouldn’t be associated with that organization anymore. -
Garfield Cadets 3peat: Your personal preference?
HockeyDad replied to wolfgang's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
No contest. The absolute best was the first 2/3 of their 1986 show. Followed by 1985. I don’t know what happened the last 1/3 of that 1986 show but, ugh…. -

Piano. Since a piano is a percussion instrument it should be completely fine. -

Mic’d instruments. All I know is, a mic’d brass instrument, particularly low brass, sounds like it’s coming through a 20 foot pipe. But everyone seems to say there’s nothing wrong with the quality of the sound. 🤷♂️ -

Can someone educate me on how harmonica and viola were legal prior to this “featured instrument” vote? -
Well, this appears to be quite a conspiracy. Has anyone driven past Ms. Bauman’s house to see if she’s done a recent big remodel? On another note, how many corps have junior corps? Blue Devils. Colts? Anyone else? No? Huh. We bemoan the decline of this activity. So those precious few corps that remain, we hold close to our hearts and cherish, right? Well, except for SCV. Someone who didn’t get a job there wants to drag them into oblivion.
