  1. If you have to explain art, doesn't that kind of indicate a failure?
  2. I remember being on the field doing this show actually! πŸ™‚
  3. I don't understand why some get so defensive about a recent age out having an opinion.
  4. I mean, he makes a LOT of valid points. I didn't realize the sound amplification was that invasive. That would mean a lot of corps were scoring off their sound system design and not so much ensemble playing. That's a pretty huge red flag on a judged activity.
  5. Hey, even bad press is good press.... πŸ˜›
  6. I live in Illinois. That happens in one day. πŸ™‚
  7. You apparently don't speak Spanish. As someone who has known and listened to Bad Bunny (for years before you or anyone here knew who he is, my wife is Boriqua) it was nastier than you understand. It wasn't ALL nasty but enough, and I mean really rough at the beginning.
  8. Perhaps the show is based on American Pie and it's a prop? πŸ˜›
  9. They had a LOT of people trying out for very few spots the last camp I saw. The smell of fear and anxiety was off the charts. πŸ™‚
  10. The problem is that the people pushing the activity are the ones killing it quickly. I see kids looking more at the music more than anything. You can't keep demanding more and more with less and less money. IMHO the sound systems are the most blatant things right now between those that have and have not. Money buys good sound.
  11. Honestly, from a purely financial aspect drum corps is not worth the money. Experience standpoint it's amazing but I would suggest that the older corps models taught a LOT more about marching music as a whole to prepare future band directors. Everything from parades and endless fund raising which YOU will need to be involved in. Also, your typical band is not going to have the cream of the crop and you are going to need to be able to get a show on the field and actually teach people not just mold raw talent. With education costing so much it's really something to consider when you are paying your student loans down. Just my 2 cents.
