  1. An appropriate correction.
  2. Frank Vanvoorhis, one of the original founders of the Blue Stars got the name from a singing group of the same name. The reason I know that is bacause when I was at his home one night he showed me the record album of the group and I think the group was from England. He had spoken with Dave Dummer about it and Dave agreed. The Blue Stars originally being a color guard of course that evolved into a full corps, of which I was a charter member. Wow, I had forgotten about that until I saw the question. I don't think I ever told anyone in the corps about that night in the 7 years I marched. Also, because the group was from England, they chose the helmet for head gear. First Federal was added later as the sponsor. Well, maybe the group was from somewhere else.
  3. I was there watching that night. I was on the backside though. The era of ticks and they watched you up close and personal.
  4. I thought going in that Des Plaines would win. They had the show that year. How does one forget the Royal airs hornline? Their soloists didn't need a microphone. We were 8th.
  5. Buds Bar not too far away from that.
  6. Some like, some don't. I prefer minimal use if any.
  7. Um...I'm just wondering. There was also a rain delay at a big show like that in 1971. Any chance that could have been 1971?
  8. There are several. Since I am from " back in the day"... I'll say Des Plaines Vanguard. One of the classic all time uniforms for sure.
  9. The write up in "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps Volume 2" could be misleading. Always best to check the recaps if they are available. 1968 is incorrect.
  10. Is this from a TATTOO event in Europe? My son will be performing at one of those with Top Secret this week at the Netherland Military Tattoo. Snare 9 position.
