  1. "Positive vibes" was a shortcut way to state all of that--donation, volunteerism, engagement etc. I am not in position to state the degree to which all of that increased. But, there were more fundraising events scheduled and attended by alumni in the last year BECAUSE of the connections made doing the alumni corps than previous years. Alumni corps members volunteered for the corps this year. So, I just came up with a shortcut "umbrella" phrase to express it. Actually, nonprofit organizations are subject to different rules in regards to how they can fundraise depending on what state they are registered in. Some fundraising techniques that can be used in, say, California and Illinois have restrictions on them in Texas.
  2. Interesting. This will come to a relief to many in the Crossmen Alumni who have been livid and more vocal on social media about their displeasure with this season than I've ever seen them. Bold action was necessary by the corps management. Last year's successful performance by the Alumni Corps has brought about some more engagement for the alumni and they expected those positive vibes to rub off on the corps. It didn't.
  3. This is fun. It's "Bass 12 cam" from the Crossmen Alumni performance. The mic doesn't pick up the hornline much when the bass drummer is playing, but it really gives a feel for being on the field.
  4. As a footnote, the Crossmen Alumni Corps was limited to alumni also. There were just a few exceptions, such as a young man who marched in place of his father who had passed.
  5. I'm 67 and did it with you. I share the same experience. One thing I found out is that the preparation of walking everyday and playing gets you into shape. Then, the first 90+ degree practice day almost wear you out. But, then you get up the next day and feel stronger than you did the day before. Performing was amazing. It went by so fast. I barely remember doing the company front. One minute we are forming it and the next I was in the final formation. I don't remember doing the in-between except the crowd was cheering.
  6. Thanks. I didn't know about that move until I saw the video. I was in a clump of baritones further backstage. Because we were turned around, I didn't know what was going on behind me until I saw the video. A lot of these flourishes were added on Thursday. The practice time wasn't long. Our design team was fantastic and it probably helped that many of them are also alumni and really understand the corps from the inside.
  7. I was in the Alumni Corps. I can attest that the 2024 corps members wanted our aussies. Some of us ended up donating them to age outs.
  8. Hi, I was performing in the Alumni Corps and I’m curious which move you are referring to.
  9. They really dinged Crossmen in GE. It was their 2nd lowest GE score of the season.
  10. Scores are taking a long time. I wonder if the show was delayed. It was supposed to finish at the same time as Broken Arrow.
  11. So, which show's scores will be released first?
  12. Most of fandom's eyes will be on Broken Arrow, but there's a show in Abilene tonight. The odds are the 12th seeded Crossmen will win this show. They've sat out a few days, but the Blue Knights and Pacific Crest are right behind them and could surge. The Crossmen go on before the other corps. We'll see. Wildcat Stadium at Abilene Christian Univ. Oliver Jackson Blvd Abilene, TX 796011 Lineup & Times (All times CT and subject to change) 7:00 PM Gates Open 8:20 PM Welcome & National Anthem 8:30 PM Arsenal Drum & Bugle Corps - El Paso, TX 8:42 PM Guardians - Dallas/Fort Worth, TX 8:59 PM Seattle Cascades - Seattle, WA 9:16 PM Genesis - Austin, TX 9:33 PM Music City - Nashville, TN 9:50 PM Crossmen - San Antonio, TX 10:07 PM Pacific Crest - City of Industry, CA 10:24 PM Blue Knights - Denver, CO 10:49 PM Scores Announced
  13. Looks like the Crossmen have made the top 12 for the Southwestern Championships, having the 12th highest score last night. They were 13th last year. I saw their Preview show, but haven't seen them a second time due to Flo not streaming any of their shows. I've followed the progress of their recaps. It looks like GE and Percussion are strengths this year. Their brass scores, however, are lagging compared to other corps near their level and haven't moved since the start of the season. Last night's judge dinged them in the Content part of the score. Because I haven't really been exposed to the book, I can't speculate on why this is. But, hopefully their staff can address it. All that being said, I am very happy for the Crossmen's improvement this year and that they have a crowd-pleasing show. Go Bones.
  14. No discussion of this show on Discord either. Scores are scheduled for 10:53 ET.
  15. Nice starting score for the Crossmen. They are in the mix for Finals.
