Even now I can’t believe my first live drum corps was at finals (!) at the Rose Bowl in 2007. Needless to say I was overwhelmed and hooked. My son was a huge SCV fan so we went for him. He made Vanguard Cadets the following year, and then SCV the year after that. Our family obsession was born

If corps are already dabbling in prerecorded announcements, can’t they prerecord Brandt? Even if it’s only introducing the corps. It would keep his iconic delivery in the activity, and in a studio he could have as many takes as needed.

The documentary about the making of Apocalypse Now is called Hearts of Darkness 🤔 (it’s amazing btw)

A big congratulations to Boston Crusaders for a stellar season and a well deserved win! An even bigger THANK YOU for coming west and thrilling the fans with such a high level of excellence and entertainment. I knew after seeing you at Stanford that we witnessed the potential gold medalists. Kudos to an exemplary year.

Amazing show by Mandarins this year! Firing on all cylinders for sure! I have to respectfully disagree about your drum line assessment. The writing and performance is head and shoulders above last year. The hype was warranted and the performers delivered. Scores noticeably improved throughout the season (of course you can’t please all the judges all the time), but of course, yes…. the program will continue to develop in the coming years. All in all a very promising start for this drum line. But, yeah…. 100% right about the stellar ending and the Billie Eilish piece.

I know just how proud you feel Chief….your son has had an extraordinary summer for his age-out and I wish him continued success with DCI if he stays involved. I know I am thrilled every year that my son has stayed in the activity as an instructor. It is every bit as exciting and rewarding! GO MANDARINS!
