  1. We didn't make finals my rookie year at Blue Stars in 2012. It really sucked since we had been in position to make it all year until scores came out at semis. They used to do a parade in downtown Indy for the corps that didn't make it on finals morning. We got up early, marched in the parade, did an arc and played some show music and the corps song. I think after that we loaded up to go back to the housing site, shower and eat and then the buses went to Lucas Oil. We got there early afternoon so I remember going to the mall near the stadium to kill some time and then I watched finals from a pretty decent seat that was empty. After scores we went to the buses, back to the housing site, and we did our banquet the next morning and were dismissed from there.
  2. The most import reason for not moving is housing sites. Back when I marched our corps director once said that the reason DCI would cease to exist (if it ever does) would be lack of schools willing to be housing sites. Indiana is a hot bed for marching bands and for directors/boosters/parents to advocate for the schools to allow corps to stay there. That's not to say other areas don't have this but the reality is that competitive field marching is biggest in the Midwest (and Texas but no one is trying to be in Texas in August). Also, finals week has the need for the most housing since open class corps are also at prelims and semis in addition to all World Class Corps. I understand the want for a rotating schedule to give people living in other parts of the country a chance to to see finals without having to fly or drive a very long way, but the Indy set up makes too much sense logistically. If it ever leaves its going to be to go somewhere like Ohio or something and just be in the same place every single year for a decade at that location.
  3. Obviously not as old school, but 2005 was such a killer show. I love this push from 12:12 to the end of the closer.
  4. Was watching 1993 Star the other day and I started to wonder where the members went the following season (assuming they didn't age out, go to Blast!, or just say enough with drum corps)? Was there a preferred corps by the members, or was it really just a mixed bag? Or did most of the members with eligible years just peace out?
  5. I know that both eventually won championships and are crowd favorites, but Bluecoats and Crown being in the tour of “champions” with exactly 0 combined titles at the time is funny.
  6. Man, I hate to say it but Stars may need a change on the percussion program next year (whether it be caption head, techs, or maybe this is just a young group and I’m wrong). I get that perc might be the Troopers strongest caption and the Blue Stars weakest, but if that score was even close this would not be a race. Either way I love the show and the work the members are putting into it. FCO!
  7. I know a certain shape that would not be a good idea for the drill designer to throw in there.
  8. I would love to see my Blue Stars crack the top 7! I think they just need the right show design to get them there. Membership the last 3 years seems strong, and the staff is doing great work! But at the end of the day I just want each corps to put out an enjoyable show.
  9. This is very "old man yelling at clouds" of me, but I wish more corps announced earlier. I feel like I get more excited when I can buff up on source music and theme.
  10. There is a thread for this on page 3 of the forums (at least on mobile).
  11. I think the current system is fine. However, I think three judges on finals week would be most ideal in a perfect world. 1 Field Battery, 1 Field Front Ensemble, and 1 Full Percussion Ensemble Box
  12. Brant just announced that show is being delayed due to lightning. Still hope of BD performing.
  13. BD pit went back in the tunnel. I'm seeing lightning in the skyline.
