That's what I was thinking as well. "Never Grow Up" was a dead giveaway in my mind. This feels very appropriate for Cavies, while not necessary being the usual "we are men" type of show.

Do the members even know the show at this point?

I know there are a lot of factors at play, but a Columbia area show is probably gonna reach more band kids than a show in Myrtle Beach. But it is what it is. And you're right. IIR, the last few years featured a smaller lineup for the Lexington show. Hopefully the kids that normally go to that show can make the trip up to MB. I'll gladly take just one show in SC over zero any day.

Well that's a real shame. River Bluff HS in Lexington is one of the nicer venues for a drum corps show. Beautiful campus, and it's conveniently located right off I-20.

I had a great time at the Houston show last year. So I had planned on going this year as well. If they put it somewhere weird, I might not though. We'll see. Not committed to it yet either.

UH last year was a great experience, for me at least. Prime location. Decent, albeit partially obstructed, view of the skyline. Traffic wasn't an issue. Parking wasn't an issue. But I’m guessing that's not gonna be where it's held this summer. I didn’t go the year it was in Tomball. But if I’m not mistaken, wasn't there a significant traffic issue that year? Wasn't that the year where either the shows started late, or the shows started on time but there were a ton of empty seats because people couldn't get to the stadium in time? I wanna say that was the year, but I could be wrong. Not to sound elitist (even though I’m totally about to) but I just don't understand why Houston, one of the largest drum corps markets in terms of potential talent in the country, and probably the world, has become this revolving door of venues to host the one show (Really? Just the one show?) every summer. Am I missing something? Granted, I live in Dallas where we're quite spoiled with three shows and no rainouts in years. But still, our friends to the southeast deserve better.

I noticed on social media today that a few Avon kids are marching with Crown this year, including the head drum major from 24-25. I believe he'll be marching tuba for Crown, but anyone feel free to correct me if I’m mistaken.

Do you remember the "Dallaska" winter storm of 2021? Not sure what Chicago got that week but we got buried in snow. It's so funny though. My job has an office in Chicago. They’re so used to winter weather, they rarely even bring it up in conversation. Meanwhile, the Texas team shuts down the whole office every time there's even talk of snow or ice!

I believe the Carolinas are being hit with a second wave of winter weather as I type this. 🥶 We had it here in Dallas last week. I used to love snow as a kid, but adult me is not a fan. So I’m glad that's over! Hopefully everyone stays safe, and off the roads this weekend!

I’m actually not shocked that BK is embracing the woodwinds. Their arranger (Leslie Gilreath) is a woodwind player himself. It'll be tastefully done. I’m confident of that. He's a solid composer/arranger.

And most of the Flo issues are greatly exaggerated anyway. Is it perfect? No. But if you’re using one of the dedicated apps, and not a web browser, the experience is usually stable.

Does anyone know why the Houston show site is always announced so late?
