  1. I had forgotten about those. And it wasn’t just Reddit, at one of their last shows before Indy, the laughter of the crowd had gotten so loud you could hear it in the videos posted online. It was a shame because as cringe worthy as the faces were it was one of the few elements of that production that actually seemed to relate to their theme
  2. While I would never advocate using AI to design a show, I will admit that for fun last year while waiting for corps to announce their shows last year I got impatient and I played around with AI to create hypothetical shows for some Corps. I was really surprised at how detailed and “creative” these shows were. It even predicted The Cavaliers using Empire of Angels (although it used it as a ballad not a closer) I found it a fun diversion and I expanded my music library with new pieces and composers I might not have been exposed to just searching on my own. But the AI also frequently had hallucinations suggesting compositions that didn’t exist or attributed pieces to performers rather than composers. It is possible to design a framework of show with AI I can’t see any benefit to actually doing this in real life. The corps would need designers and techs and arrangers to realize any AI generated content. And the backlash from fans if they found out would be brutal. To paraphrase a politically incorrect joke from my childhood. AI in drum corps is like riding a moped. It’s all fun and games until your friends see you.
  3. I watched it live this afternoon I’m pretty sure they were using the bluecoats uniforms from last year near the end
  4. While it wasn’t the new ending I was hoping for, I was very pleased with the changes to the final few charts. Just moving the new closing form back away from the front sideline was a great move visually. Adding the white Aussies on the Mellophones as they stood on the props showed they are listening to their fans (I’m still not sold that the Aussies look right with that uniform/costume but it was great to see them on the field)
  5. The Cavaliers have a great ballad that deserves some mention. The use of the props with the sabers and the way they keep adding more flags as it builds is beautiful in its simplicity. Musically it’s not living up to its full potential yet and little time left in the season but definitely one of my favorites this year
  6. New ending or not I think we can all agree that this year has been a success. They are on the verge of breaking 90 and are sitting just 3.25 points out of 6th at the moment. Last year at finals they were just 1.15 points ahead of 13th. This is all the more impressive given the quality of programs in 7 thru 12. They’ve moved up because they have improved not because others have fallen.
  7. Yeah, when they turn turn around for the first big hit in the closer and they just start doing a variation of the two man choreography during the unison rhythmic hits like they did in the opener it just feels like lazy writing. I hope it’s just a placeholder for something else but at this point in the season I don’t think so.
  8. The “footprints” on the props have bothered me all season. I think just painting the inside of the props white would help fix that. They used the props so well through the first 75% of the show but during the closer they become more of an obstacle. Yeah, the mellophones standing on the props look cool but they divide they divide the field with the low brass in back doing one thing a the sopranos barely moving along the sideline
  9. Loved the all black, all white and all grey uniforms. Sky Riders were a bit ahead of the times with their show specific uniforms
  10. The parallel bars on the top and bottom of the scouts props are really distracting. The really break up the lines of the prop. I get that those are needed for structure and stability but it makes them look so cluttered and sloppy especially when they don’t line up with the other props
  11. On my iPad it defaults to multi cam when I first start the event. Turn the iPad to portrait mode and the video should minimize to the top of the screen. You then should have the option to switch to high cam. There should be multicam and high cam options below the video feed
  12. Glassmen 1996. Another American revolution. The first corps I ever saw with a pre show (there may have been others)
  13. This topic has come up before(maybe not on this forum) and the Cavaliers Pan American sketches from 1996 was offered as an example. Not sure it belongs here as it is more of an exploration of North and South America but does include some very “American” music with a couple of Copland pieces. A great show from the Cavaliers that always seemed to me as a bit of a change of pace from their normal shows of that era
