The song is “Little Wing” from the album “…Nothing Like the Sun”, released in 1987. -

I hope you have the best time there. Soak it up and enjoy it all! -
Boston’s show is absolutely incredible! Keep on pushing!

I agree and I think people need to stop equating someone’s disagreement with judges spreads with an attack on the judges. That’s just not necessary, in my opinion. I can see a clear difference in GE and music analysis between the two corps (and I think Boston is well above Bluecoats in both categories but the judges see it differently.) Some can’t see as wide a spread and are asking from a quest for understanding is all. People are always so touchy on this forum. But I guess that’s what comes from being so concerned with scores… -

I agree with what you said. A lot of really good changes. The flow is much better now! I like the updates to the closer and hope they keep it up. Much improved performance. -

The more I think about it the more I realize how the Rondo and its corresponding drill fits into the whole theme of separate groups on separate areas of the field perform their own individual segments. Then they decide to congregate and work together and create something new, which is that jazz piece closing out the segment of the show. I think that’s pretty cool. -

I’m similarly impressed by the huge circle of brass in the finale -

They have included snippets of repertoire from decades past in several recent shows, I’m guessing as a nod to history and identity. I like it when they do that, and when they transition to whatever piece they move out of immediately from the Rondo. I’m trying to get into the atmospherics that they introduced with the Rondo, though. -

I agree, and I’ve been infatuated by the first half and the way it flows. The ballad is wonderful to me as well, but I really love the beginning up through the jazz, with the block that pushes to the center of the field and changes composition as it moves. That’s really awesome to hear and see. -

They do put some jazz in the Brubeck section of this year’s show to the end of that movement, but I understand that you’re talking about a whole show of (probably popular) jazz music. “Through A Glass, Darkly” is up there as one of my favorite Blue Devils shows, btw. Definitely smelled funny…haha -

This is fantastic! Big departure from previous shows, but still has that DNA. Very strong and well put together! I’m looking forward to this show move and grow through the coming months. -

I personally have never heard the song on the radio ever. I have only heard snippets of it from commercials…enough to know the main conceit of the song. But I just listened to it (8 minutes! Wonder if they cut it down when it was on radio…I remember the hassle Whitney Houston’s team had with radio stations’ reluctance in putting I Will Always Love You on the radio in its whole form back in the 90s…’Kashmir’ is almost old enough for the senior citizens discount at Denny’s) and I just found out that that rising string motif was part of the end of this song. I enjoyed its use in the preview videos so I think it’ll be fine enough for my tastes (and I am glad there’ll be other music to supplement it for variety’s sake.) -

That’s totally fine. I have chosen the prop I think it is, and I’m going to enjoy it when I find out I’m inevitably wrong!
