Mandarins not fielding in 2026

Getting pretty tired of Cadet bashing at this point. Management of the organization had confirmation they were in good standing as a 501C3 with the state of Pennsylvania. Whatever "confirmation" you had never saw the light of day within the Cadets org..... nor did their phone ring with your number on the caller ID. The org is dead. Let it be dead and st*u please and thank you. -

The most CONTROVERSIAL second place show ever…

He did it for the clicks lol I kind of do and don't blame modern age-outs and fans for not knowing history back to 72 in this activity. I'm sure my fellow alums that went all the way back to '34 think the same way about my generation. Drum corps has been around a very long time. There's been plenty of controversy in her time. 2015 was a great year .. but I don't think any decision made by the judges that year was wrong. The top corps were all superb and deserving of winning a title. -
I'll throw in Scouts mid 80's until they stopped using them .. they were all great lines. PR had some very good frenchie lines. 87 was one of their best along with 89 .... my outlier would be 86. The corps didn't place well but I really loved how dark the mid-voice of that hornline was. No Mello's in 86 .. all Frenchies. It had all that gurgle and heft .. I loved it. Do the Meehaphones qualify? If so, I"ll throw in the late 80's BD lines.

Fuel cards other than WEX are difficult to work with. They do not. understand the model of a Drum Corps business. 99.9% of their customers are buying fuel 12 months around the clock .... Monthly and per card limits are based on the total spend for the fiscal year. So getting the limit actually needed for a drum corps tour is next to impossible. If our fuel budget is $120,000 for the tour, that's $60k limit per month needed. But the fuel card company will only give you $10k per month limit to cover your $120k budget. No Bueno. Pilot, Loves, Speedway et al, are modeled this way. So is Fuelman and ComCheck/ComData. If 40 corps did pool together under a DCI account, they may make an exception. And yet again, DCI would be risking its credit rating while relying on each org to pay their bills. The only safe way to Pool is to have the entire budget paid up front. No matter the item you wish to pool ... Paid in full up front or no dice.

most of the "pooling" things that have been listed are not pooled. They are discounts offered to each corps based on a minimalistic sponsorship of sorts with DCI. The big stuff is not pooled and probably never will be. Bus contract for 160 buses and 80 Entertainers ... not happening USFoods or similar doing food drops for all the corps on one account? not happening Uniform and Equipment contracts .. not happening. Each corps has their own deal/sponsorship with options to sell on the back end. Overhead including offices, employees, etc. NO ... not happening The Penske deal offers each corps access to the DCI account, but billing/net 30 is not allowed. Each corps can take advantage of the discount but must pay up front via credit card. And good luck having vehicles available when you need them. There is a competitive advantage for the those who have .. over those who don't have. There is also the danger that shared accounts for a massive discounted rate may not be paid by each corps in a timely fashion ... meaning someone has to pick up the tab when a corps fails to pay their bills. No, Not happening. And it's very sad that it won't.

High cam for sure 1. You can better gauge total GE, Vis Ensemble, staging, show concept, etc. 2. Traditional uniforms used to hide how young and "not mature" the performers look. Multi Cam pushes in way to close ... and without the headgear ....... let's just say, I don't need to be able to see if Johnny needs a care package of Proactiv, nor a need to send 20 voicemails screaming STOP LOOKING AT THE GROUND!!!

They followed George, Peggy and Sully. Much like the move of McNutt, Gino - et al. I'm not so sure that the move of Rennick caused all of PR percussion to move to SCV ...... I don't know it's a fact .... but cmon. I know it's true. UNT makes it easy to know where your peeps are going. -

Never underestimate an org's power to give misinformation to "insiders" just to see what leaks. -
It's really easy to say, "Just about EVERY piece I know is based on DCI Exposure" Unless you have parents that were more "worldly" in their music tastes and exposed you to jazz and classical .. Unless you became a music appreciation major in college and even then your exposure to literature is extremely limited after 8+ years of playing in ensembles .... Unless your sisters Ford Pinto's radio was locked into AM radio on the classical channel ...... You aren't going to know much of anything. The younger you got into drum corps, the more literature you will know of. Full Stop

winning doesn't require others to dwindle ... not at all. It requires everything you've stated but on Finals night and all nights leading up to it .. the contender must prove they are Head and Shoulders better than everyone else .... and continue proving it over and over and over again. Even then, you need the luck of the draw with judging panels. I think we all know there are 2nd place and 3rd place shows out there that could have / should have won .... but the upstart hadn't paid their dues yet .. .didn't get the benefit of the doubt like the more established corps did. Some will have to do the steady rise .. sit in 4-6 land for few years ... pray they can get into the medals for a few years and maybe ... just maybe get lucky and win one. Some, possibly, will just show up out of nowhere and knock everyone out. But for that to happen, there is usually a major change in staff and creative team that is an immediate draw and immediate impact.
