  1. so far, depending on the corps, at least 3 weeks of rehearsals have been cooking
  2. in honor of their return to the stage, anything Rush
  3. thats a red flag to me. #### happens on busses.
  4. i have seen more madison stuff in the last week than i have in the last year. so maybe they are listening
  5. but then you're arguing its just this. it's not. it's multiple factors. look my dad marched, my mom met him at his corps rehearsal, they fell in love, married, had me...rumor has it conception happened DCA weekend. i love this activity more than any other hobby. but i also realize too many people involved in the activity think we are may more important and culturally relevant than we are. we're marching band. to some, weird marching band. we will at best half a stadium. major companies don't feel band is enough to drop dimes on us. we aren't made for tv, and we can't get advertisers. we are what we are. instead of trying to be some relic of society from the 50's when a lot of things today didn't exist, lets find ways to strengthen what we have without trying to be more than we realistically ever will.
  6. i cant imagine just driving wouldn't require the training.
  7. is say AT&T said hey we'll give you a mil a minute to show USC's band.....they'd do it. but the sponsors aren't doing it.
  8. part of it. if i need to i'll say it slower. yes rights play a part. but not all of it. advertisers line up to sponsor the talking heads stuff. the majority of viewers want the talking heads stuff. it's why Pat McAfee is well known and BD isn't. why? Far more people care and want to see McAfee.
  9. basically it's why DCI steams live or next day only. it's why no dvd's or PBS or ESPN
  10. it's both. if sponsors lined up to push for showing the bands, they'd probably do it.....but they aren't.
  11. they realize there are viewers who like to see the bands. but not enough to outweight the costs of licensing and the ad revenue of talking heads
  12. \you're both right. yes talking heads take up more and more time. but also licensing rights have been brought up by network execs when asked why bands are shown less.
  13. my kid is in the front ensemble, and they're doing conditioning and choreo too. i warned her to be prepared
  14. that and housing yes
