  1. The question was recently asked about the presence of a DCA Corps in Texas. I can't definitively answer that question, but I can tell you that All-Age Drum Corps in Houston is alive and well once again now that Bayou City Blues is back. To avoid a long discussion of internal politics, let's just keep this simple: Bayou City Blues turned into Gulf Coast Sound for a decade and now the name has been changed back. BCB is not a part of DCA and likely won't be due to logistics, finances, and geography. We learned a few things during the GCS years. DCI SoundSport is a viable, local alternative and we're embracing it. 2016 was the first season back and it was a success. We're stepping things up quite a bit for 2017. It's going to be exciting and a lot of fun. If you'd like to know more about the Corps and our plans, please ask. I'm happy to answer any questions. Our first rehearsal is December 10 on Galveston Island. Several Corps have performed on the island over the years, but this might just be the first ever rehearsal/camp down there. 2. You want good, smart teachers. Who cares where they come from? You would want someone less qualified from Crowns staff than someone more qualified from BDB? Methinks you should care more about the job someone does and less about where they come from. Z

  3. You are overthinking this. My comment is simply, "Will Phantom with a new design team attempt another direction or continue the path they have been journeying?" That's all.

  4. And for those wondering about the lack of advertising at DCI events over the summer, I really imagine that was more to do with not having promotional materials ready yet. This past Saturday, at MetLife Stadium, 62 high school bands where in competition at a USBands event, and video clips were running all day on the jumbotron between bands; marquee advertising pylons out in the warmup lots and staging areas had CotC ads in rotation; larger-than-life posters everywhere. I presume the same will be the case at the various USBands State and National championship competitions in the coming weeks. Whether or not that's occurring in other circuits, I can't say.

  6. Ratings update on Episode 2: Live + 3 Day ratings indicate a drop from Episode 1, but not as steep as the "same day" ratings. It's about a 24% drop right now for the key demos. The audience appears to be a little younger, on average, indicative that older demos dropped off more than younger ones. The show is looking like it's near the top, if not the top, show on the network.

  7. Maybe he just meant the age of camera winking soloists.

  8. Neither is giving a visual aid to help student development, or asking for it, for that matter. But great approach! Mock and criticize someone trying to obtain assistance. Stay classy!

  9. To be honest, I really don't care if Cadets don't win again. All I want is more emotion and crowd responses like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSmxvwgWvac
