  1. Yeah....they had to edit out the Corpse Bride theme....fortunately, I have the finals stream for prelims and finals AND just downloaded the video on demand....I think I'll spend sometime editing them together. If Tim Burton doesn't like it, too #### bad.

  2. Steve Gadd, legendary recording artist, former Rochester Crusaders snare and member of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame has been nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award. Steve has performed with everyone from Sinatra to Streisand to Paul Simon, and toured as part of James Taylor's All-Star Band this past summer. We can all celebrate this latest success of our Drum Corps brother. Here's more: https://youtu.be/Rvi6-TyqpUM (Drum Corps folks will recognize this drum lick he customized for Chuck Mangione.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjPgzVevhe0 Note: YouTube links may be disabled on DCP (for good reason). Just go there and enter Steve Gadd Hall of Fame to view these.

  6. The webinar said it'd be SATB literature, in almost all English. There'll be parts that are almost a cappella and parts that are everyone, all systems go. George (Mr. Hopkins?) also said we'd be wearing a variation of the uniform (did not specify guard or proper, but most likely proper) but he couldn't reveal what kind. I asked if the small ensemble would do I&E (something The Cadets haven't done since 1984), and he said he hadn't thought about it. The rest of the questions pertained to auditions and such and aren't really relevant here. As far as time spent singing, it really is a no-win for some of you... Too little, it's a waste of eight members. Too much, and obvious complaints. Which are both somewhat valid... however I'd say about four minutes is a good amount if they're gonna go all in with this. No matter who's in it, it won't be bad singing. There'll be over 30 people auditioning for 8 parts.

  7. Sacramento Freelancers Winter Drumline used a vocal group in the late 90's early 2000's at WGI competitions......they weren't marching or playing percussion, they were solely there to sing. I think they did a pretty good job of integrating it.

  8. The violinist actually was on one of the on-field props in the beginning and did poses when not playing. They moved her to the sideline early in the season.

  10. The Bluecoats are hardly the first in drumcorps to try and invoke the cone of silence and certainly won't be the last.

  11. You make the (erroneous) assumption that such people aren't already marching in a drum corps performing in an alternate discipline. Plenty of vocalists who might dance, spin a flag or play an instrument simply because they just enjoy the activity. (Think woodwind players who pick up a horn just to march in the summer.)
