  3. It was similar to K Pop, for sure. IMO, the K Pop was much more seamless and well integrated. Maybe I'm crazy, but it just grew on me and made sense with the production. Now, I get the Bieber section and what they were trying to do, what it represented. It just seemed out of place. It reminds me of a scene from the movie Social Network, where Mark Zuckernurg is complaining about the Caribbean party and its use of the Niagra falls. The section was supposed to be aggressive like the character (spacing on the name), so they did a cool drum feature with some pan flute Bieber because... Then throw on some modern dance choreography for the horn line. Look, I'm not trying to sound like an elitist here, even if it sounds like I am. I'm just a drum corps fan, who for the first time during a BD production since 2012 wasn't completely glued to the show. It usually has my full attention and during that section, I felt like it was a brief intermission (for me). I loved the show idea, loved most of the music, loved so much of Scott Chandler's work. Those are just my opinions and they likely fit the thread's theme of unpopular ones. Here's your chance, DCP, tear away!

  4. Straight out of The Tempest. Caliban was just trying to order a temporary ban on Prospero's visa program.

  6. The only iffy moment this past year for me was the hairography of the Ariel segment. Otherwise. I loved the show.

  7. My (adult) son and I were at finals in 2008. Boston was his second favorite show behind Phantom.

  8. A non for profit organization should be able to make their own rules. Girls cant march with Scouts or Cavies, & guys cant dance in the Rockettes. No problem with either one.

  9. I know the NFL says that's the Lombardi trophy in the background to the hornline, but it has an eery resemblance to Bones.

  10. Seems like a great mix of music we obviously know and some really interesting stuff they're mixing it with. Cant wait to see it, they have had some really fresh programming.

  15. The MMs refer to the food truck under Chef Carlton as the Ritz Carleton given the great product he produces including vegans, vegetarians, and food sensitive. Tomaine Domain is the nickname given to some other corps in the past but not to Cadets. https://yea.org/programs/cadets/cadets/news/1462-meet-the-cadets-chef-carlton He marched with several corps, finishing with the Cavaliers. He knows both the activity and the demands as well as having the food credentials par excellance. Even when Pych-Speakman-McGarry and BoD pitch in with their steak dinners and specials for the chef's day off, the volunteers (a/k/a the Carrot Crew) are phenomenal given the love they plate as main course and side dish. And for those who yearn for drum corps bitd with Pat's Ice Tea, the pb&j is available in many flavors, including organic and almond butter..

  16. I can confirm that the rumor that BAC will be doing a musical redo of the Blue Devils " Happy Days are Here Again " is false.

  20. Do people on dcp ignore the happenings of Reddit? Because someone put a post titled BAC 2017 and some coordinates which led to the Salem Witch Museum... certainly going along with the teaser posted earlier.

  21. I just did some math, and due to the lack of off-season information, it looks like the Cadets are officially broke. Their food truck this year (assuming they can still tour) is a barely restored Radio-Flyer wagon that's rusted out in the back. Hoping the MMs can afford their tetanus shots....

  22. Actually, I think the photo in your signature is going to be their field uniform this summer.

  23. I think BD should have won every year since 2012, except for this year. I'm not going to pretend to be a design expert, but I felt that this year wasn't fluid like the last several years were. There were several moments that felt uncomfortable to me. Not to mention THIS ISLAND IS MINE. I really did still enjoy the show, but I think 2013 BD was a much better product than 2016 (even with some great moments this year).

  25. I'll add another one. The right corps won DCI in every one of the last 15 seasons (2002-2016), EXCEPT 2007.

  27. Brasso has always been outwardly complementary on the Cadets putting stuff out in previous off seasons. That I can say,

  30. I might be biased as a shameless BD fan, but what BD has done with BD360 is incredible. I don't see any corps duplicating that anytime soon, at least to the same degree. Honestly, it should air on TV imho.

  31. The Boston Crusaders are shaping up nicely this offseason. Info on the Corps show, theme, music, etc will be publically released as Mgt. sees fit. That is entirely their perogative and in their domain and I will respect that decision.

  32. I"m not going to say anything anymore about Scouts 17, except a warning to all of you guys... and it's not a bogus hype! Their opener blew my mind and the final run through this morning gave me the chills I haven't felt since the 1990's... And the way Scott Oliver shaped the music... OMG! As a member of 1991 BD, I felt the style of Scout's opener is like a mixture of 91 and 95 BD closer. Come out of the gate like gun slingers... F'ing Glorious.... I'm still feeling the goose bump! It has style, little avant-garde jazz phrases, bunch of FFFFFF blow aways... And more importantly, something that have been missing in recent decade, aggression with anger. I can't wait to see the finish product, judging by what I have seen, this show will be a home run!!! You guys are in for a treat!
