This is literally night and day from last year. BAC doesn't give a f*** this season, which is a great thing for all of us.15 points

Grohg. Haven't heard this since '98 SCV. They may have one upped it. Seriously, this corps is firing on all cylinders. Visual is clean for the first show. Drum line is throwing down. Horns are pounding our ears with their sound. Guard is intense and clean.14 points

Hey, all. I will be at the show tonight to do live coverage from the press box! I plan on arriving about an hour before start time. If you'll be there, feel free to find me. I'll be the guy in the DCP staff shirt and DCW pass. See you tonight! posted from the DrumScorps app14 points

Kevingamin is the next best thing for us DCP'ers who can't be there, and when the show is not on livestream. Thanks for all you do, Kevingamin.13 points

I hear one of the judges laughing because of how much the corps is blowing him away right now. Holy crap! Scythian Suite is awesomely harsh, discordant, and loud! Boston really is on a mission!13 points

All I can say is the Bluecoats' staff is incredible for coming up with shows year after year that have consistently driven the crowd bonkers and giving each year's members something memorable.11 points

Now that we know about the awful facebook group @DrumManTx told us about, it seems likely these were the kind of people CC had in mind, rather than people like you. People complaining about uniforms in a really homophobic way, for example, under the guise of "nostalgia." I know that a few people here feel it's out of line for a drum major to speak out like this, but honestly? It's 2017 and the internet can be vicious: it seeps into peoples' minds and morale. No one knows that better than young people. His desire to dismiss it publicly, on the internet, seems reasonable to me. I do want to get back to another of your points, though, about "biting the hand that feeds you." I get that we invest a lot of time and often money into these corps. But I think we should remind ourselves that they don't owe us anything—beyond performing their hearts out. You choose to invest. If your support is contingent on the MM acting only to your standards, is it really support?10 points

Hey, @flammaster and others, there is a SUPER toxic Facebook group called "I Don't Support DCI" that has come to the attention of a lot of people in the activity lately. It's filled with some older alums and participants of the activity and to be frank it's pretty disgusting. Incredibly mean spirited and disgusting comments that include comparing a member of Carolina Crowns 2015 guard to prostitution and stuff about sex slavery and the list goes on. They got ahold of BDs uniform too and I won't give them more attention but I've been told by someone not on DCP that his tweet was in response to this group. His tweet was not inappropriate in response to that sad, incredibly disgusting, and terrible crowd. I don't think a BD drum major would tweet something like that if it wasn't in response to that group which is honestly the equivalent of pure hate speech about the acitivity and it's members.10 points

VANGUARD THAT WAS FANTASTIC. I'm all aboard the west coast bandwagon this year, Bloo and Cavies can hitch a ride10 points

I wouldn't mind seeing Bluecoats finish above Crown in brass at the end of the season if Crown still maintains the same amount of vocals in their show by then. Might send a message9 points

Nice pentagram form during the end, too. ####, that was good. How good? I'm not good enough to say.9 points

Happy first show for the #WickedWitchoftheEast team! Lot's of talk and speculation, here's what we know about BAC going into tonight: We have certainly shifted the dialogue about Boston since the last performance of 2016. Organization is stronger, leadership is more experienced, the new staff is in place and working well together and we have a strong veteran based Corps. The offseason was excellent from all aspects, show design process/execution and teaching was up significantly - at a very high competitive level. Tryouts were demanding and the bar was raised significantly. The members prepared well over the winter. Spring Training was the best ever across the board. The show has been done for well over a week and ensemble rehearsals have been excellent. The fans tonight will be entertained and see/ hear a full show with uniforms, props, and show silks. What happens tonight has nothing to do with luck, it's all been carefully planned and well executed to date. All the best to the kids tonight, do your job!9 points

Ok........would love to hear how Blue Knights......Phantom Regiment......The Academy......Mandarins......Pacific Crest......and everyone else were. People care about them too!9 points

Huge sound as the corps comes front and center on the main statement of Nessun Dorma! People are standing up! That is a moment, people!!!8 points

Big score for Madison. If you're going to do it, go absolutely all out and DO it.8 points

Maybe since BD and SCV aren't there we'll actually get to hear about the other shows tonight.8 points

All of a sudden, this just might have become my favorite show this season. It may appear dirty now, but behind the dirt I can see all the beauty and class that Phantom embodies year in and year out, except this time in a more competitive product. In a year where there are so many changes in style and uniform, Phantom Regiment, thank you for just being you. I wouldn't want it any other way.8 points

Don't let your obsession with placement detract from what you've been waiting a long 45 weeks for: another glorious drum corps summer. All new music and moments you will come back to for years and years. That's what I need - new awesome music for my listening bliss.8 points

I'm mad that there are no Periscopes from this show tonight. There are some corps in this particular show that I'm itching to see for the first time (or second).7 points

As an alum, I think it's hilarious, and not in any way in poor taste.7 points

Lots to be happy about in Boston Crusaders land. Only .2 behind one of the modern dynasties in brass! Great percussion content score. Color Guard will be fine, there's no doubt based on what I've seen they're pretty fantastic. Thinking about where they've opened up in previous years in relation to the leaders and who they got beat by they're riding pretty high out the gate. Should be a great season for them!7 points

Note to self -- when you get that notification from the Drum Scorps app that new scores are available, wait about 10 minutes to give the DCP servers a chance to cool down. That's 3 nights in a row that I got the notification, and the DCP forums immediately came to a standstill for about 5 minutes.7 points

Why upstage that brassline with the vocalist? I just don't understand.7 points

Crown vocals much better in person. But that 2nd half of the show is just not there yet.7 points
-
Yeah, you know how Crown's brass line can get incredibly loud out of nowhere? Oh, baby.7 points
-
This show is already light years ahead of last year in terms of design, plus you can tell they're putting a shine on it now that they've gotten a few performances under their belt.7 points

Maybe the "young people" who view these forums are sick and tired of being criticized for participating in the evolution of an activity we all love equally. Having known CC for years, he is not one to be afraid of sharing is opinion and I have a feeling that the people getting upset about this are the ones who know on the inside he means them. Anytime young people fight back against criticizing old people it's always "agist" and "ungrateful". No, this time it's just correct.7 points

I still had a lot of faith in the Cadets in 2015. They kind of fell in 2016. But by the end of 2017, I think all will be forgiven.7 points

First off it is a great show. Crown and Coats also have great shows as well and the real winners are us fans this summer. But the question i have is if and when BD wins, are you gonna be here in August to eat your plate of crow, or are you gonna disappear? Or are you gonna be one those people who shortly after BD wins comes on here and says how they are done with DCI and they will never give another penny to this organization, only to pop back up next summer talking the same mess you are talking now?7 points

No copycat show for BD this year! BD just continues to be BD. Incredible music. The BEST music of any show I've heard this year. Also, the uniforms by BD are refreshing to see! Just BD, man. Just BD!7 points

All of the corps were wonderful. Couldn't ask for better evening of drum corps. BD and SCV will no doubt be fighting for medals with two strong designed programs. I see a three way cat fight between BC, BD and SCV. Wonderful time with all my life long friends. Off to Stanford.7 points

I just watched the periscope. I think they've announced to the drum corps world that they've had enough of this fourth place crap. Love the ballsy aggressive brassline.7 points
