  1. What's in a name? Why is the name such a big deal anyway? That's less important than how they execute/design their show anyways.

  4. I wish they had gone with something shorter, like Statues Awakening. Or maybe just, Awakening.

  5. No it wasn't, Early on in winter guard days circuits who still used this manual of arms, a program would literally stop, do the manual of arms, then continue. This and other traditions as of that point ( sometime around the mid to late 70s depending on the circuit ) would change as shows became more beginning to end products eliminating the obstructions that were fading into history.

  6. Thanks. The weather is supposed to be sunny, high 70's, low 80's, low humidity, so they should have a good opportunity to work with the Brass out of doors for Sunday's ensemble.

  7. Brandt Crocker is losing his voice from announcing some corps over the years.

  8. I want more cheesy narration. Extra credit if it tries for some deep meaningful message. I also want more thunderous goo. Loves me some electronic generated sound so loud it drowns out the entire brass line. That's drum corps!! And can you please get me more props. Like tarps covering the entire field, or various jungle gym-like structures taking up lots of space. And for something new, because "evolving" = good, how about reaching into the BOA ranks and bringing some go karts to the field.

  9. He has had good reports on the brass line from previous Winter camps. Even Teri and he whose name shall not be mentioned have provided comments.

  11. It takes me out of the show, I prefer uniformity to individuality. I find faces distracting. I want big picture

  12. I've been waiting for this for WEEKS! It was really hard to narrow this down. FAVORITES: 2006 - Faust (for me, it had the best combination of good storyline, great music, excellent drill design that was really clean, great guard, & most of all...emotion!) 2008 - Spartacus (just a GE monster...the most energized I have ever seen a Finals crowd) 1996 - A Defiant Heart (minimalism at its finest...the opener is my all-time favorite) 1989 - From the New World...Into a New Age 1993 - The Modern Imagination 2005 - Rhapsody 1991 - Phantom Voices 2007 - On Air 2003 - Harmonic Journey 2011 - Juliet Honorable Mentions: 2010 (Into the Light), 1994 (Songs for a Summer Night), 2012 (Turandot), 1990 (Dreams of Desire), & 1987 (Songs from the Winter Palace) just missed the top 10 LEAST FAVORITES (ie. the only Regiment shows I actually dislike): 2014 - Swan Lake (I hated this show SOOOO much...Flames....Flames, on the side of my face...) 2017 - Phantasm (I really thought Wes Cartwright would be a great fit for Regiment....boy, was I wrong!) Dishonorable Mention: The witch puppet monstrosity from 2013 (I really liked the rest of the show, though)

  14. Good article. Yes, it's important for the artists in this activity to find ways to fund their passion. Post season withdrawal is a drag. I would readily shell out cold hard cash for more access to what is going on with each organization, in the off season. Anything. It doesn't have to be show reveals or copyrighted stuff. Show me some brass lines doing tuning sequences... batteries and front ensembles warming up. Throw in a few flag tosses from the guard. Anything to see/hear how the performers are. Many of us miss being MMs. Bring back some good memories for me. I'll pay.
