  2. TERRIBLE is having to go beg other corps for food...the defunct Magic of Orlando comes to mind... I do NOT buy into your food being terrible argument either... If you call this terrible....then I'm not sure what is an UPGRADE... Shall I go on?....lol

  3. I just arrived home from Crusaders rehearsal in Castleton. I saw a run through of Sensemaya without met - amazing! The intensity was staggering. I do not say this lightly, but they could medal this year. The hit on Salvation is Created brought tears to my eyes. They are way beyond their work at this point last year. There is balance throughout the ensemble but the baritones - OMG. The demand is also very engaging - I cannot say enough positives about Boston this year! Good job everyone!

  8. I have it on good authority, straight from the top, that Crown's uniforms will convey the intended intent to any and all recipients receiving the glorious brass sound from the 2018 Ott winners with the battery battering and the guard guarding and what was the question again?

  9. I want to thank everyone today for their contributions on this thread. It has really given me food for thought.

  10. Seems like a lot of great persons put in a lot of hours. Kudos to all the cooking crew volunteers at each of the corps who do this only out of their love.

  12. The Madison sound? Everyone sounds the same anymore, for the most part. Put a blindfold on and you wouldn’t be able to pick the Scouts out of a 3 corps lineup.

  13. Our new director, Scott Litzenberg has been doing a phenomenal job shuttling between getting the Cadets ready for tour and ending his school year and 34 year teaching career at Union-Chad, Upper Darby, etc. While the work of a corps director is never done, I'm not sure this is how he is always commuting. Thanks Scott from all of us.

  14. I like your profile name (Reminds me of 86 devils). and I agree with you regarding 2018 bd music so far. Before it was taken down I was able to hear the music twice. Unless we get a changing of the guard on the bd creative team I am afraid we are going the same type of musical arrangements. A complete shame for some of us because the talent is always stellar and in the clip they sound great. Really wish BDs creative team would take some much bigger risks..as a frequent winner they should be taking major risks with presentation not implementing musical phrases and style we have heard over and over again for them :(. Hopefully they make some big changes and I'll love it....

  15. We are currently scheduled to perform at three shows this season, plus Williamsport. I'll either let our director announce them, or the individual shows do so rather than leak something I might not yet be at privilege to announce.

  16. The 10th to 15th place corps battle gets stronger and stronger every year, what corps is going to get the final slot into finals this year ?

  21. Its great whenever a new Corps that has not done so before ( or in a long time ) makes Finals. Most fans really do like seeing such perseverance rewarded. And whenever a Corps wins a DCI title that has not before,... my oh my...

  22. i'll say it yet again....a decade of wandering around the wilderness trying to figure out who they are has led them to not be people's first choice. From 10-13, they were beginning to be "Madison" again, but the design needed to be upped to be more competitive. They can't keep going back to the latin jazz stuff to wake the beast. They need a team that puts together a series of great shows, and boom, interest will pick up. Even the "down" years of 2012-2015 haven't slowed Cavies down

  23. Just to shed some light on this, we are a VERY small development team of 2. Adding DCA support to the app would be a significant undertaking and at the moment, we just haven't seen the demand to justify putting in the work. Our focus is on DCI at the moment as a vast majority of our users only follow DCI.

  25. Lots of people want to see Mandarins in finals—no complaints from me if that occurs. Others have said they think we’ll see Academy, Colts, or Troopers return. I’d enjoy that too. Of course one corps has to call for this to happen. Madison is the one predicted to drop. Not so sure I agree. I’m thinking Crossmen may have a more difficult time. I’m getting a sense there are tensions in the corps, especially after some revelations a month or so back, so I think they could be in a precarious position. Outside tensions can impact a corps performance. So, if 12th is going to go to a corps either making finals for the first time or returning to finals, I’d say Mandarins. If 12th goes to a corps hanging in there, I’d have to say Crossmen.

  26. I’m not much for predictions but I do have an inkle that there will be someone new in finals this year.

  28. Regarding transgender participants: At the October 16, 2017 board meeting, the committee presented a recommendation to the board to amend its existing eligibility policy to include transgender males beginning in 2018. The board unanimously approved the recommendation and has been working with the National Center for Transgender Equality over the past two weeks to draft a policy with appropriate language. Eligibility for the 2018 Madison Scouts will be based on the gender identity indicated by the applicant, including transgender males. Seems clear cut to me.

  34. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for joining this discussion. I found the article fascinating, and appreciate this additional context. The whole time reading this thread, I was thinking that the primary input for the decision to go co-ed should come from current and former members. The "Do you support going co-ed" question and results are interesting enough, but I wonder if many might find the question pejorative, and skew the results. Was there a question that tried to weigh how much the fact that the corps was all male factored into their decision to march there? Or a question that tried to weigh it's impact on their experience marching there? Those might be more telling if the all-male aspect of the corps is serving a need consistent with the mission statement.

  35. Well Cavalier brass is vastly improved this year, so there is reason to hype. Percussion and guard are great too, and last years effort was pretty high, so I'm excited about them. Definitely worthy of medal talks, so I dunno.

  46. Visited ST yesterday and today. WOW! This will be a treat. Stronger brass and percussion. Guard is doing great things. Couldn't tell for sure but I am guessing about 9 minutes of show done. I love the way this staff teaches. Methodical and detailed. And cleaning along the way. The ST facility is terrific. All sections have their own marked fields to use along with indoor facilities and an outdoor huge field house type of structure with tent like walss that can be opened or closed depending on weather. Makes time very efficiently used. Thank you Castleton U. Boston has stepped it up with more demand, intensity, raised performance already. Can't wait for Detroit.

  48. I think the fact that they are even asking the question indicates that they no longer have a compelling reason to limit their recruiting to only 50% of the available talent.
