For me, nothing compelling happens for 1/3 of the show. But the other 2/3's of the show are fantastic enough to make it one of my favorites of the season.

    It's kind of a central moment in the source material though, IMO. This is an obvious exaggeration, but would you arrange Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and take out all references to Ode to Joy? Maybe. But no one would fault you for leaving it in.

    The piano is kind of a central moment in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, but J.D. Shaw chose to arrange it for a drum corps. 🙃
