  1. I still need one ticket. Anybody? Anybody?
  2. Wow, I haven't signed in in 3 years! Anyway, I am searching for one single ticket for DCI finals, as close to the 50 yard line as possible. If you have a ticket I can buy, please email me at ekleve@hotmail.com Thank you! P.S. I'm a nice person. If I sit with you, you will like me.
  3. Wow. I haven't worn the uniform since 2008 and haven't even posted in DCP since 2009! Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the current difficulties. I'm thinking it might be time to wear the uniform again. I just might think about marching in the 4th of July parade! Who's with me?
  4. I have known Bruce since 2005. He was always there for me. I would have to travel to camps all the way to Syracuse from Cleveland, OH. Any time I asked, he would pick me up in Buffalo and let me stay at his house overnight to save me travel costs. Just a few months ago we went to DCI Finals together. He drove from NY to Bloomington, IN and back with no help. He was the picture of health. It is just unbelievable how quickly this disease works. It recently got my beloved Granny as well. We'll miss you Bruce. Thanks for everything.
  5. Just wanted to let everyone know that I almost died laughing from that Blue Devils video!
  6. Actually, booing does sound distinctly different from BLOOing. Just ask any 2000 vet about the time they got booed at a mid-season show for beating the Madison Scouts!
  7. Gee whiz, I never said I didn't respect his opinion. I just said I didn't understand it. Didn't you see my very first sentence where I said "Everybody has their opinions and that's ok"? In response to what you said about the show, I will agree that loud does not automatically equal good. But this music was amazing and powerful. And yes, it did have dynamic contrast, including a beautiful ballad that had some sensitive backfield playing and a gorgeous forte climax with a nice warm tone and perfect blend. I might even argue that this show has more dynamic contrast than many of today's shows because they achieved a louder FFF, which allowed for more contrast to the softer dynamics. Oh yeah, another reason I didn't understand his opinion was because he said "This is where the descent happened for me." This leads me to believe that he already liked Madison's style but didn't like this show for some reason. To me, 2001 had every element that people always loved about the Madison Scouts, so I wanted to know why he felt that way. Side note: Consider this entire post under the category of IMO.
  8. Ok, everybody has their opinions and that's okay, but please explain this to me. It is beyond me how any drum corps fan could not like 2001 Madison. That hornline is everything that everybody craves out of a hornline. They played LOUD with none of the reserved qualities that bother a lot of drum corps fans today. The music was incredible, not a dull moment from start to finish, and it built up to one of the most exciting endings I've ever seen! I'm sure a lot of us secretly want to see a corps just blow the house down with reckless abandon at the end of the show! The lead soprano section and soloists were out of this world. They really felt this show and GAVE it to the audience! If any members of the 2001 Madison Scouts are reading this, I SALUTE YOU!!!!
  9. Maybe so, but boy are they awesome to watch!!! I will totally admit that they're practically useless from a sound perspective. But they are so bad### from the visual standpoint that I hope they stay forever!
  10. You would think so, right? But I found that when I had coffee I was having agonizing shin cramps on the field. After I switched to Red Bull on drum corps weekends it never happened again. Coincidence?
  11. You know, that's interesting that you brought this up. Everybody says this. I'm a music major, and my teacher even yelled at me one time for drinking coffee backstage right before a recital. She said, "What are you doing?? Your hand are going to shake!" But I seem to be the exception to the rule. I play WAY better when I've just had coffee. In fact, these days I'm finding it harder to play or even get into the music if I haven't had caffeine. That's bad, right? But hey, getting nervous isn't a problem either. If I can handle a stadium crowd, no school concert will be a problem!
  12. I am an avid coffee drinker, as many of you know. But during the summer I never drink coffee during a drum corps weekend because I assumed it would have disasterous effects on my body for the physical demand of marching. I just discovered this article and found it very interesting. It is a 5 page article about the health benefits and potential risk factors about coffee. On page 1 it discusses whether or not coffee causes dehydration, and on page 3 it actually discusses what effects coffee can have on athletes. I might rethink my position on coffee during the weekends. But be careful. You have to read the article carefully to reap the benefits, because if you do it carelessly it can have negetive effects. Here's the article: http://health.msn.com/nutrition/articlepag...3347&page=1
  13. I just posted about this on the other thread. After seeing the preview of 2008 Crown in the theater tonight, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it ends up being my favorite show of the year!
  14. This is a problem every year. That's why I always hunt down the manager beforehand and let them know that we like it LOUD!!! Tell them that this is a musical show and the fans like it loud, and that the quiet volume has been a problem in the past. They always listen.
  15. Yeah, there were only about 5 other people in the theater besides for us. Last year there were way more people. I think if DCI wants to keep big attendance for this event they should bump the number of shows back up to 12 and include other decades. One more thing. I CANNOT WAIT to see Crown this year!!!!! After hearing their 2008 musical selections in the theater tonight, I cannot remember a time I was more excited about a show pre-season!
