  1. Ok, I was watching a video of phantom from 1996, and I couldn't tell whether they were only marching euphs (as opposed to baris and euphs), or if they just had really big baris...
  2. Ok, I liked Phantom's show the best, since it was really emotional, and the design was really cool too. Cavies and Blue Devils also did an outstanding job as well, but this is like comparing apples and oranges here. they all played completely different types of music, and had completely different visuals, drill, etc. thats why "who should have won" and "whos show did you like best" will sometimes be completely different answers. As I said before, I enjoyed Phantom's show before, but I thought Cavies had a cleaner show overall...
  3. well ive done baritone 2 years, first year id say i did about 75% left hand, 25% right hand, but last year, our visual tech told us not to use our pinky rings anymore, so that was like 95% left there, and man did it suck learning how to snap it without using a pinky ring...
  4. Well we had 3 baritones, and i think we all used different sized mouth pieces... I had 6 1/2 AL, other 2nd had 12C and our lead had like a yamaha 58 or something like that, I'm not entirely sure though...
  5. o on our second show this year, i think it was rome, ny, i remember the announcer said "drum major adam billings, are your corps (also plural) ready!"
  6. "Run to the water-tower" (said when there are no water towers in sight)
  7. lets see... - you need a hat, water jug, and dot book at rehearsal, or you get pushups - you have to roll your feet everywhere (even if you wake up at 4 am to go to the bathroom) however this isnt enforced much after death camp.... - no swearing (because our show theme was south park) - no gum at practice ever - no eating/drinking in uniform (except water) - you always need footwear outside - if someone in the hornline misses the ripple (including relax ripple), the whole hornline runs - o and my personal favourite: one trumpet player in the hornline complained and whined too much, so if she complained or whined, the whole hornline had to run (the rest of us could complain all we wanted) thats all i can think of right now...
  8. "Happy Times Camp"? wow, ours just says "Tour 1" and then "Tour 2" (tour 2 is actual tour, and tour 1 is just death camp) and ya, another reason for the point jump might be that we didnt have a marching closer for our first show :(
  9. I'm pretty sure that the show itself isn't meant to be just a comedy, there may be some funny parts, there may not be, I don't know, I'm not designing the show, but if you listen to the music without the vocals entirely, it still has good background music, and I'm assumung that's why this show was chosen, not because it would be funny, just because the actual music of it is just awesome.
  10. o man, you can't get me started on food... but one thing i really liked on tour was pizza subs, 2 thumbs up and 5 stars for that one :)
  11. how would boa be becoming more "intellectual" than dci, if you said pretty much that they are matching several things that dci has... also, what does comparing the actual event of dci finals to boa grand nationals have to do with which one is more "intellectual"... also, (im assuming) that marcing bands would be naturally bigger than drum corps (in numbers) since it seems everyone knows what a marching band is, but very few people actually know what drum corps is, which would lead to marching bands having more money at their disposal so they would be able to put a commentary on their dvd, etc but i say let the marching bands make whatever kind of crazy dvd or final event type thing, i really dont see how it would affect drum corps that much, i personally wouldnt go join a marching band because they have a bigger event...
  12. why would it have to be a high quality video for it to go on an iPod? i mean, you'd probably want good audio, but since an iPod has such a small screen (im assuming the video playing one doesnt have a much bigger screen), it would be pretty hard to pick out details that closely. also with the small screen, you wpuldnt be able to see the whole show that well...it would probably make more sence for dci to sell the videos on their own website... or they could come up with some huge marketing scheme, and sell them for like twice as much on iTunes, that way people would be more likely to buy the cheaper ones from dci.org directly...
  13. alright, lets try (for lack of a better word) STRIVE, you have to strive to be good, you cant be good if you dont want to be, and without the strive, you cant have dedication, commitment, etc
  14. ok, just recently, we were informed that the right people were on with the board, and that things should be going well soon, but we havent gotten much detail on that one, at least things are looking better now, lets hope they keep looking better
