  1. Their snare line plays rolls so clean they produce overtones. The horn line quit circular breathing Flight of the Bumble Bee during warm ups because it wasn't challenging enough.
  2. Ummmmm, we tried that back in 1992. We called it Jazzophonic. Remember that Beatles thing? The Corps took out ads in DCW trying to explain it. "New Look, New Sound, Etc...... Didn't work so well overall.......... And God did we have talent in the horn line that year. Wasted, simply wasted. Now if we would have done the Dizzy show in 92........ I digress. Jazzophonic? NOOOOOooooooooo............... Of course listening to it now, Long and Winding Road is a beautiful ballad.......
  3. Just got back from Summerville, SC theater. Crown's show had just started when the thunderstorm that had been rumbling in the distance the past 15 minutes knocked out the satellite signal. After 10 minutes the Ms. and I called it an evening. Not a whole bunch of happy people there when we left. Oh well, you can't fight Mother Nature. Well you can, but the win percentage isn't so good.......
  4. GO INT!!!!!!! Kevin, any chance of a picture of INT's show?
  5. Let the Saturday night inflation theories begin......
  6. And isn't that what it's all about? Good job raising your daughter, Mom. <------ Capitalized out of respect, no relation.
  7. Um, yeah. I did get hurt when I rode my bike. Several times. But I got back on it. I learned from my mistakes and I got better. Seriously though. Danger? On a bike? A knot on the head, a black eye, a skinned knee, a bloody nose? The freak of nature accidents that happen to .01% of children on bikes are horrible. I feel for those families. I dealt with some nasty stuff in the 5 years I spent in EMS and you don't even want to consider some of the patchwork I did on kids (and adults) overseas. Now put it in context. A young woman with a patch on her eye marching a drum corps show? Dangerous? Meh. Slightly risky at best. Nope. I'm just not getting all of the cries of concern and caution from the sidelines. But like I said originally, maybe I'm just jaded.
  8. Maybe I'm jaded because I played with rusty, metal Tonka trucks, rode a bike without a helmet and have been overseas a few times........... but here is the morning rant. The wussification of America continues.......... everyone please climb into your bubbles. Do NOT come out until all sharp edges found and eliminated. What ever happened to the spirit of adventure and risk in America? Good thing the 1st explorers didn't stand on the edge of the Great Plains or the edge of the Rocky Mountains and decide it was too tough and someone might get hurt. Thank God the men of Concord and Lexington didn't play the percentages for a full and happy life at the birth of our nation. Sam Walton and Bill Gates took some risks, it seems it worked out OK for them. Is the Atlanta regional close to any of that? Hell no. But singular events like this can shape a young person. Are they going to be the type that rolls over for the rest of their lives or stand up in face of adversity? Really, it was pink-eye with a corneal abrasion. Once the irritant causing the abrasion was removed and the eye was patched preventing further contaminants from entering, the eye can heal just fine. Doctors have a wonderful habit of saying go home and rest so they don't get sued or people don't lose jobs. My rant is now over. I'm going to go find some Decaf now. Congrats to this young lady for looking at the situation and saying, "F*** it. I'm tougher than that."
  9. I loved the Bluecoats 1995 show. **Disclaimer** The author of the above sentence was a 5 year age out horn sergeant of the aforementioned corps. His honking for that particular show by no means denigrates the performance of any other corps of any other year. The author also wishes to express concern for any hurt feelings of fans of other corps not mentioned in the above sentence but denies intentional harm. The above mentioned corps did not solicit the comment and is no way responsible for the comment. Thank You.
  10. And people wonder why lurkers and casual posters don't want to post reviews......... If anyone had bothered to truly read Galen's review, they might have noticed the line where he stated he got to the show late. Thank you Galen for taking your time to write what you did.
  11. Nevermind, I had slow fingers for the French translations above.
  12. Wow, I've read that reading comprehension scores are down in America......... Please, go back to page one and try again.........
  13. I looked through the DCI schedule and I noticed there are no shows in Canada. Is this due to lack of interest in the Great White North? What a shame, if it is. I have several fond (and blurry thanks to the lower drinking age) memories of Canadian shows and free days. The crowds in Quebec were always fantastic. -T.
