  1. Had the luxury of watching the show last night in Denton. My quick thoughts...... - Can corps just go back to using helmets? Especially Cavies and SCV. I feel like there is a looming identity crisis. There are few corps that remain instantly recognizable, which is a shame. I applaud PR for bringing their helmets back, but I would of preferred they stayed on throughout the show. It’s official. I’m an old fart. - I was really surprised with Regiment. Wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but they brought it last night and gave this alum some goosebumps. - The talent level in DCI has grown so much over the years. It’s hard to believe that this could be a 12th place show. Regiment clearly has the talent to make a move and I hope the design team provides them that opportunity. - Hey brass line, if you’re reading this.....you sound great. Keep pushing yourself and don’t let up. IMO, you’re better than the scores reflect. That being said, that final hit in Fire of Eternal Glory? We were ready to throw our babies, but your breathing and entrances back into FFFFF took away from the moment. There was a lead Sop that took 4-5 breaths in that chord alone and attacked like a MF when they came back in. We sat low and close to the 50. IMO, Biggest ovations last night went to (in order): - Crown - SCV (likely higher if everyone wasn’t racing to the exits) - Regiment - BC - Cavies Nice work Regiment, love seeing you guys lay it all out there for us! SUTA!
  2. Looking for an extra ticket to the show if anyone has one for sale. Finally got the night off and would rather not show up hoping for a good seat. Willing to pay above ticket price. PM or email @ dbgilday@gmail.com Dave Gilday
  3. Most everything was posted already, but here is what I remember. Brass Arranger - Michael Klesch Drill Design - began with Brian Hildreth, replaced by Leon May Percussion - Brian Mason Guard - Jennifer Leseth Program Coordinator - Dan Farrell Dave PR Sop 98-01
  4. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I'm really biting my tongue on what I want to say about your posts in this thread. It's obvious you don't understand why someone would march in PR vs. Cavies, and it sounds like you've got your mind set on the "Rosemont way" of Drum Corps.
  5. not sure if that was sarcasm or not, but that actually sounds like a good idea, although a bit on the cheesy side.
  6. Cavies can't feel good about the lead right now. 3 corps right on their heels.
  7. not sure what an asterisk would fix, but if that's what you propose.... I've only been following the activity since 98 when I started marching, I never pretended to be a die hard follower since the inception. But I'll stand by my opinion, that since I have been following the activity, most judges seemed to have a bias AND scored based on prior results. I'll add to this, that I am not naive enough to believe this is all fixed either, but it is definitely better.
  8. I wish everyone would take a step back and really look at what has happened with the scores this year. For the first time that I have seen, judges are scoring based on individual shows, not based on the seasons results up to this point. Caption scores are obviously indicating that any personal bias towards a certain corps are, at least for the time being, a thing of the past. I'm frustrated because for years this is what the fans wanted. Each and every night, it is anyones show to win or lose. Granted, at this point in the season we have a pretty good idea of which shows are in the running come August. If you are on this thread, complaining that corps X should be 8th across the board in every caption because of a prior show, then my opinion is that your opinion holds no value (i.e. sucks). Set aside your personal bias, and enjoy the uncertainty of each night. If your corps performs beyond the judges expectation, I believe the recaps will reflect it. Likewise, if they were no better than the any of the corps prior, they should be placed accordingly. I have also started noticing a couple of sub-caption "ties" this year. I don't remember if this has been going on in the past and I just haven't noticed it. I was getting a little tired of the "place corps X lower than you wanted because there were still 15 corps to go on" approach. If the Colts come out and give a perfect brass performance, give 'em a 10. If the Devils do the same, give 'em a 10......nothing wrong with that.
  9. For those that are there, does it look like any extra seats area available? Was able to squeeze out of work early, but hesitant to make the drive if I cant get in.
  10. Almost always the next to last corps to go on. In this case, BD. Exceptions are generally home shows.
  11. How many years have we been complaining there was no honesty in judging? How many conspiracy threads have there been over the years? It's refreshing to see judges calling it like they see it, as opposed to slotting them neatly into 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.
  12. OOOOHhhhhhh......forgot about that place. Good Call.
  13. ill give you a hint.....starts with you.....ends with something that rhymes with b00b......
