  1. I agree with your opinion and description of many of the good people that did not have the wherewithal to cope with modern day requirements to run corps as they are today. It is so much more than what one, two, or three people are able to do now. Yes, an entire staff is needed now. I seriously doubt there was any intentional dereliction with Pioneer ( on the other hand I am not privy to it all) I now think that damage control may be the issue. Although I am not in any position of influence, I have made observations after driving equipment trailers since 1996 in World and Open class. Money of course has always been the problem with small corps. This year the corps I was driving for had full medical staff, and an RN on the entire tour. DCI has its hands full , and are going to have to guarantee the show operators, municipal, and school directors that they are not dealing with a Pandora's Box by letting corps stay at their facilities. An earlier poster Tim K mentioned that the housing issue may be the main problem that the chaos within DCI has or will have caused. Some serious PR is going to be needed to surmount this situation
  2. Thank you Kevin for the description of the events ,atmosphere, and wonderous progress of the corps in Castleton. Am a substantial distance away at the moment, but you provided me with a scenario that I am anxiously looking forward to see and hear personally in a few weeks. It is almost unimaginable to think of the corps practicing on the asphalt behind the Hood Milk plant in Charlestown in the 90's , and being shuffled around to any space available for a time.. To read your description of the facilities at Castleton, and being in a town that welcomes them and supports the corps is such a great result of a bunch of people in the organization who did a whole lot of things right !!
  3. Hppefully Channel 3 WCAX or channel 5 WPTZ will be there. They are based in Burlington , but cover the entire state and have huge viewership in Montreal
  4. Dry adiabatic lapse rate minus 3.2 degrees per thousand ft. Verticle :-). Love the detail and circumspect toward the activity.
  5. You said it all so well. ....To Gretchen that drove from Marion, Iowa to Lacrosse with $ 500. Worth of donated necessities in various areas. To ' ICE ' running the kitchen in the best way . to the drivers doing the 500 mile night trips, the alumni that jumped in to help for a day when BAC was in their area. The Crusader family's that sponsored meals all along the way. You said it all Lab Master, just tossed in some road stuff...
  6. Much better than Cumulo Nimbus with verticle development. Some very high Cirrus clouds would be the order of the day
  7. Always wondered about the non essential workers. Do they know who they are ? Do they want to know who they are ? I.E. my dad is a non essential worker who is ready to retire ???
  8. Kind of wondering if any town officials from Salem, or any other people connected with history on the North Shore would be interested in some of their past being brought to the present in musical presentation of their history. Maybe an invite to the Lawrence home show would be a good thing in the sense of some modern day awareness of their past by an outside organization. ???
  9. I shant. Still smarting from dealing with the Wisconsin DOT. :-)
  10. Good stuff..........B8rings a lot into perspective from then to now.
  11. I stand corrected.. Was probably at the bar..
  12. I'm thinking that was at the 1000 islands Bar in Barneveld. It was a nice few days. Remember fans painting the Wisconson ' W ' on the practice field so the corps could be ready for the surface at UW stadium
  13. There is no truth to the rumor thst next years show will be about. Sacco - Venzetti. :-)
