  1. What a sweet letter. I feel like I know this little girl. You see, my granddaughters went to their first drum corps show last year in Dekalb. At the time they were twelve and ten years old. Their connection to drum corps was through their uncle who marches with the Renegades color guard. They made shirts and signs in preparation for their first show. As they met diffrent individuals they seemed to feel that they too were a part of the drum corps world. The Renegades took them under their wings. This year they went to the Winston show and remembered everyone by name. They received lots of hugs from their drum corps friends and even a shirt from Lee. WOW! they had really become Renegades. Strangers have come up to our son and ask "are you Uncle Todd"? Our girls always yell "I love you Uncle Todd" as the corps enters and exits the field. He is so proud to answer yes. Drum corps has become a part of their lives and they can't wait until they can spin a flag or toss a rifle. "Thank you" drum corps for being such a loving and caring organization. You have made a big and wonderful impression on so many childrens lives. A proud guard mom (grandma)
  2. We will be starting our trip north from South Carolina tomorrow. Just want to wish everyone safe travel and good competition. As for the Renegades, I say "keep your wings flapping and safe landing". We can't wait to see all of you again. Guard Dad, Guard Mom and Aunt Sonnie
  3. It was said that if they move finals somewhere else that the traditional fan won't go. I truly believe that a "TRUE FAN" will go where ever the show is being held. B)
  4. I don't know if we are average fans or not, but this is the story of my husband, my sister and myself. We first learned about drum corps when our son was in his highschool band. We attended many shows in the late 70's and early 80's. After our son moved to Hawaii for school and we moved to Michigan, we saw no shows for several years. Later we moved to South Carolina and tried to attend shows in Winston Salem every summer. I had never heard of DCA until four years ago when our son joined the "San Francisco Renegades". We went to DCA finals in 2002 and that is where it began again. With us it isn't just about the music and the marching. It is about the corps itself. They are not just the "Renegades", they are now our family. This began the first day that we arrived in Scranton. We only see these "kids" once a year, but when we meet in Scranton, it is like a family reunion. We are called "Dad and Mom, and Aunt Sonnie" by most. We love it. Our son didn't get to start the season with the Renegades this year, but we still got tickets for prelims and finals in case that stuation changed. While we were at the Winston Salem show, we were asked to "please go to Scranton", that we are "their biggest fans" and just had to be there to cheer them on. How could we say no to "our family". The next week, our son was ask to march the spot of a fellow Renegade who had been called to active duty serving our country in Afghanistan. Now we knew nothing would keep us from Scranton. We have met fans and members of other corps over the past four years and look forward to seeing them each time we go. This is why we continue to be "The average DCA fan. We love drum corps, but most of all, We "LOVE THE SAN FRANCISCO RENEGADES"! See you in Scranton! P.S. Does the "Average DCA Fan" drive two days to get to Scranton, decorate their van, hang signs around the hotel, greet the corps when they first arrive at the hotel and have other fans ask if they can take their picture? If so, we are just that and love every minute of it....."God bless you, Al" Be safe and know that you are in our prayers.
  5. I live on the coast of South Carolina. I will go back to Scranton, and Hershey would be okay, but Winston Salem would be my first choice. With the price of gas, the closer the location, the better. I do like the idea of moving it to San Francisco. Just imagine being in "RENEGADE COUNTRY". Maybe in 200"7"
  6. Al is a wonderful person who is loved very much by our family. We wish a safe and successful journey to him and all the others who risk their lives for our freedom. We are proud and grateful to have you as a friend. May God bless you always. The McClintick family
  7. Wishing everyone safe travel to Winston Salem. Renegades, keep your wings flapping. We can't wait to see everyone. Be safe! B)
