  1. You are correct about the membership rule. If I remember correctly, corps had to declare either 100% (all members were veterans) or 80/20 (80% of your membership were veterans). Reilly, Archie, and Skyliners (they were called Garbarina then) Officers met and decided they would declare 80/20 and would not protest each other. Those same Officers were shocked when they were notified, after the prelims, that they had been protested. There was much finger pointing between the three corps. There was even a fight when one of the Officers threw a punch at another Officer. That Officer ducked and the culprit hit the wife! Years later it was discovered that the protestor was Jim Costello of Hawthorne. Ah, the stories
  2. Interesting. Even more interesting is that the "concerned" people didn't take it further when they were refused intercession. What stopped them? Carol
  3. You're probably right, Mike. I just wonder sometimes. Knowing his history, would a female Crossmen Director have elected to give the person in question another chance? Especially if there were other qualified individuals. Carol
  4. I read this thread in an attempt to educate myself about this current issue. I find much speculation when what matters, in my judgment, are facts. I also find it very disturbing that the majority of the writers are male. Isn't that how this all started? Carol

  7. Sorry - Been away for awile - What picture are we on?
  8. Fran, I just heard of your loss. The prayers of the Reilly Nation are with you as you deal with your grief. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there... I do not sleep. I am the thousand winds that blow... I am the diamond glints on snow... I am the sunlight on ripened grain... I am the gentle autumn rain. When you waken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of gentle birds in circling flight... I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry— I am not there... I did not die... Carol
  9. Participant information recieved from Plymouth Show organizer Barbara DiRusso: "We will not be recording the show professionally this year, so feel free to have your people videotape your performance. However, no one will be allowed on the steps or on the performance floor. If you have any special requests in this department, please see me at rehearsal."
  10. Sorry, I submitted the picture and was AOL for a time. Can't remember when or where the picture was taken. I think I took it while the 4 of us were having breakfast the morning after the WDCHOF banquet when it used to be on Saturday night of DCA weekend. The Gentleman on the left is Val Capone. He was the horn instructor for the Pittsburgh Rockets back in the day. Val's brother was the Director of the Rockets. Two really great guys. When we used to go out to eat, I always made reservations using Val's last name. We sat at some really unusual tables!
  11. Bill and I were in Washington, DC with this George. We waited with him for the Florida contingent to pass by. His son was playing with the Florida Vanguard and he was one proud Papa.
  12. Nancy - If you don't Kewpie him for this, I will.
  13. A very Happy Birthday to Donna. It was good to see you Saturday night. And, Tom - get yourself healed quickly. It's almost the beginning of the season. Did we name the lovely lady in the picture with Tru yet??
  14. The man saluting and Pepe, used to try to out do each other by bringing a smashing 20 something to the WDCHOF Banquet! The older man usually won:>)
