  1. Throughout the show, Atlanta CV has built in over 30 references to iconic moments in drum corps history. Tonight, thanks to the help of friends from two iconic corps of the past, they will add two more at the beginning of their ballad. Be sure to watch and see how many you can find!!
  2. Outstanding job from Alliance's guard!! CONGRATS on a great show!!
  3. When I talked to Alan after their run, he laughed and said, "We had a GREAT run in all captions....our scores will probably drop about 3 points!" They are all keeping it in perspective, and VERY excited about their score and placement. Highest score and placement in corps history, and highest placement for any corps from Georgia. SO proud of all of them!!
  4. Yes, big THANK YOU from me too!! Very hard to be here at home when my husband and daughter are having such a great season with Atlanta CV!!
  5. You should see the video from their rehearsal this week when the guys filled in...priceless!!
  6. A long, long time ago, the corps I marched in folded the night we were supposed to leave our hometown for DCI Finals. We had no time to react, no time to do anything but deal with it (and pile in a pick up truck to go to DCI to watch anyway!). There's not really any way to describe how bad it sucks to work that hard and get it all pulled out from under you. I sincerely hope that other corps will offer the members of Teal Sound (especially age-outs!) the opportunity to fill empty spots. They have the time that we didn't have to finish their summer on the field...and those empty spots would be much better off with a person in them!
  7. Jason would have turned 30 today. HBD sweet friend......we still miss you!!
  8. They used one with the face on it in prelims and the ensemble was solid red, then in finals, it was the other way around. So, if you were there for prelims, it was less of a surprise...other than that they switched the plain and screened silks. I didn't hear anyone say anything about it being sacriligious or anything at all. There were some pretty distracting individual performance issues that I think were holding more attention than the flag design though. I did love the show, and thought they were great, just less great in the flag feature than other parts of the show. My personal favorite part is the "back up dancers" in the back right corner toward the beginning of the show.....LOVE the quirky, fun movement passages!! :)
  9. Many of us from Atlanta are unable to make it to Nashville and Pensacola this weekend too.
  10. Okay....let's try this again.... **First, everything I say on here has been said directly to the executive board of our circuit.** Our circuit signed a contract for this service within the last couple of weeks. Directors were not given input, and were not given any right of refusal for their shows being posted. I personally voiced my displeasure, especially considering that our 2010 Policy Manual says, "There will be no videotaping for sale to the general public at any SAPA regular season competition." At that point, I was told that it is the same as WGI and their Fan Network. WGI gets permission when you register for regionals for groups to be recorded for later use on their website......our circuit did not. WGI makes it well known that all regionals will be recorded and groups plan their production and performance schedules accordingly.......our circuit announced this one week prior to the first recording. . One of the more disturbing parts of the whole thing was that the "release" we had to sign consisted of one paragraph, embedded in the middle of the Damage Waiver for the local show last weekend. If you don't sign the damage waiver, you don't get to compete. No director is going to stand at the check in table and say, "Sorry kids, we can't compete today because they put something I don't agree with in the middle of a standard form." Let me be very upfront and say that I'm sure the quality of the recordings is of a very professional quality and my gripes are not at all with the company providing the service itself. I have not seen our video, as directors were not given access to see our shows as we were originally told by our circuit we would be able to do. The concern over intellectual property rights is a very valid one. While copyright paperwork was turned in for the music, that does not extend to the creative work that is displayed with each show. Though lawyer friends tell me it would be very do-able, I seriously doubt anyone would really sue for distributing our shows without permission. That said, it has given many of us a distinct feeling of distrust toward those who should be working on behalf of our member units. If nothing else, it should make for a very interesting meeting in June....
  11. We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle Corps!! Northgate Independent forms partnership with Atlanta CorpsVets
  12. After a GREAT turnout for our first audition spin session, we are looking forward to our next (final) spin session on Sunday, Sept. 27th. After focusing on movement and flag at the first audition, we will include weapons this week, and based on the first session we will most likely increase the size of the guard for 2010. If you are interested in spending the day with us, or spending the season with us, we hope you'll come out and join us this Sunday!! Specifics and audition form at www.northgateindependent.org.
  13. The first piece was "Line by Line" by Steven Warbeck, and the 2nd was original music created for an Audi commercial. They were VERY helpful and great to work with as we tried to figure out what to do about copyright clearance for that piece. Random.....but what's the deal with no liner notes or credits on the DVD's this year? If it's already been asked and answered, just point me toward the right thread...
  14. Awww..........thanks!!! Update on the audition info: The Audition Information Form is now available on our website at www.northgateindependent.org. We are THRILLED to confirm that Robby DuFresne and Matthew Richardson of Northeast Independent will be with us again this season!! 2010 is almost here, and we can't wait to get started!!
