  1. figured it out..had to switch to safari instead of using firefox
  2. anyone else getting a white screen with nothing happening?
  3. Hey Folks...(pardon me if this is a DCP forums violation) I have the 1988 Semis Top 26 Multicam Videotapes. I am trying to get them transfered to DVD as backups. Is anyone here interested in a possible trade for services with this process? Please let me know! GF
  4. Gregg, Where did those scores come from? On your site, you have these scores, which I believe ARE correct: Casper, WY Velvet Knights 82.4 Phantom Regiment 80.8 Sky Ryders 63.3 Troopers 63.0 Marauders 56.9 Americanos 44.6 The recap you have connected to it has the Sky Ryders with an 80 something, but I know we didn't break 80 until August 9th or 10th that season. Also, I know we scored a 63.3 in Cheyenne, because we didn't have any equipment or uniforms, so we used loaners from all the other corps with our corps jackets.
  5. From the recap from "from the press box" GE Brass Sky 17.4 (13th) DB 17.6 (11th) GE Perc Sky 12.3 14 DB 12.6 12 GE Visual Sky 17.6 13 DB 17.8 12 Total GE Sky 47.3 13 DB 50.0 10 Brass Sky 12.7 14 DB 12.8 13 Perc Sky 13.2 12 DB 12.9 15 Visual Sky 13.4 11 DB 12.7 16 Total Score Sky Ryders 86.6 Dutch Boy 86.4 Looking at that, 3 of the 6 judges had Dutch Boy in finals and 2 of the 6 had Sky Ryders in Finals. The myth about us jumping up to 6th or 7th in GE was false, as you can see. Just FYI, this was the ONLY meeting between the two corps the entire year. As a Sky Ryder, I had no idea who Dutch Boy was, but I knew they were scoring a few points higher than us throughout the season. Going in to Semi Finals, we got the luck of the draw, going on last. There were 13 or 14 corps between the two. GR - 88 and 89 Sky Ryders
  6. We scored an 83.1 that night! Broke 80 and woke up with sweet cereal the next morning. (the Sky Ryders incentive to score 80). That was a WILD crowd that night. Gale 88-89 Sky Ryders By the way, my first show...Dallas 86 Railmen Marauders Sky Ryders (OZ) Velvet Knights (James Bond) Troopers (Last year in finals) Suncoast Sound (Kenton) Santa Clara Vanguard (Festive Overture and Pictures)
  7. Rumor has it that the Sky Ryders were named after their first opener was determined. As the story goes, the first tune to be played was "Ghost riders in the Sky". I could be wrong.
  8. Recently I was the victim of a car stereo theft. Didn't bother me too bad, except that with the stereo, the bandits walked off with my CD case. Of course, it was full of drum corps, wind ensemble, and various other cds that are useless to the common man. I can replace most of them, but I am really wanting to replace the ORIGINAL set of 1988 Finals CDs that I had. I don't want the collectors series edition, I want the originals. If you have a set that you are willing to part with, please let me know. I would also be willing to purchase the original set of 1991 CDs (they have BD from semis instead of finals...much better performance in my opinion). Thanks, Gale 88-89 Sky Ryders 01-04 Cavaliers Brass Staff
  9. It was indeed a great year. "Trading Paint" might be putting it mildly. It was an all out brawl for about 4 weeks. I don't think Sky Ryders and Freelancers had two consecutive victories over eachother all year. It was back and forth every night. If I remember correctly, if Freelancers beat us, we played "edelweiss" at retreat, and if we beat them, we played "favorite things". Crossmen beat us every time they saw us EXCEPT semi-finals. We didn't go head to head with Dutch Boy until Semis. What a scary night. As for the Sky Ryders guard from 87 to 88, Tommy Keenum left the corps, and most of the guard followed. If I remember correctly, 88 Sky Ryders had less than 30 veterans. We were YOUNG. Gale Rask 88-89 Sky Ryders 01- Present - The Cavaliers Brass Staff
  10. I remember that marching rehearsal. If I remember correctly, we were changing the last set of the show for the finals!. They were trying to make it NOT look the same on either side of the 50, so they changed the picture that afternoon. I think we scored a 72 that night and Freelancers did beat us. Seems like we scored in the 70's from late June until the second week in August. We didn't break 80 until Houston on August 10th. Sweet cereal for all!!! Those "battles" between Sky Ryders and Freelancers were fun. Seems like every other night, we changed places. I always enjoyed hearing "yoda's theme" at retreat, which meant we came out on top :) . I am pretty sure if we lost to Freelancers, we played "edelweiss" and if we came out on top, we played the end of "My favorite things". By the way, the Rainbow wasn't you guys. It was another corps (from what I am told). Gale
  11. A few tidbits about 88 Sky Ryders: If I am not mistaken, we had close to 90 rookies in that corps. We started the season with around 8-10 holes in the brassline. There were a total of 14 brass players at the February camp (when I auditioned). We were pretty much in 15th place going in to semifinals (we went on last that night) I remember getting beat by Crossmen by 3 points at the Wichita Ks show the Saturday before finals (pretty much a home show for us) Rumor has it our Rainbow that sat in the back stands was stolen and burned that night...won't mention who is rumored to have taken it. Seems like we didn't have ANY money that year....I seem to remember seeing some drum dudes cutting large plastic flower pots in to quarters to fashion them in to scoops for the snares. Some notables from that corps- Jed Weeks, SCV Brass Caption head the past few years JD Shaw, Brass Arranger for Regiment Steve McCartney, Visual Caption Head for the Glassmen (not sure about this year) Brett Hall, Brass Caption Head for Colts Gale Rask (me), Brass instructor for The Cavaliers There are more, I just can't think of them right now. Gale 88-89 Sky Ryders
  12. Thanks. Nice to see my corps name on a post. I had a great time marching with the Sky Ryders on Baritone (88) and French Horn (89). We always seemed to be liked by the crowds, and not so liked by some other corps that didn't always enjoy getting beat by a corps singing Do-Re-Mi and dancing around with large wooden notes.
