  1. I honestly feel there just isn't enough teaching/design talent for any large scale parody to happen in DCI. We now have Super Corps! BD, SCV, Bloo, Crown and maybe now throw in Boston and possibly Cavies to some extent are attracting the best talent across the board. If you are a great snare drummer you are going to learn from Johnson, Rennick...etc. If you are a brass player you want the Harloff's of the world teaching you. You know where I am going here. Point is its all connected and the single biggest factor it's not likely to see parody is MONEY! These top notch educators are not cheap, nor are top notch designers. That is where it all starts for me. Follow the $. Could Madison some day again be relevant if they had BDs budget? Ill bet they could.
  2. I thought about this concept while watching retreat Saturday. A show that paid homage to some of the most iconic songs from say 5-6 corps, complete with uniform changes that represent said corps. I wouldn't even know where to start but guaranteed it wouldn't take long to put together one heck of an audience pleasing show. Simply titled, A Drum Corps Tribute.
  3. He is a great judge, but lets get real, he's no Doyle Gammill.
  4. Really man? Theres nothing to prove! SCV has 1 loss in drums this year which happened tonight. What exactly do I need to prove? That they didn’t lose prior? Is that what your really asking? Good lord man, if you don't already know that fact, i don't need to spend my night educating you.
  5. Easy, because they never beat them until tonight. So not sure the total head to head matchups, but when SCV drums go undefeated all year its pretty hard to debate another line being better. But miraculously tonight they lose. clearly there undefeated season up until tonight means nothing
  6. Its pretty easy to look back at all head to head meetings. Dci.org has all your answers. Now, since you want to call me out, find a show in 2019 head to head that BD beat SCV in drums besides tonght. Ill wait.
  7. So all meetings before tonight wasn't an indicator which line was better? I mean get real, somehow all season long it wasn't even up for debate who had the best line. But tonight of all nights BD wins? Think what you want, SCVs line is superior and anyone with ears knows it.
  8. Its an absolute sham that BD won drums tonight. First time all GD year! Something stinks around here and it might he Prosperie! Absolutely ridiculous.
  9. You didn't hear it from me. Best Corps yes maybe, best show, not by a long shot!
  10. Absolutely 100 percent accurate and I have said the same for years. GE really isn't GE!
  11. So it comes down to percussion really for the WC. First time all year BD beats SCV in drums. Sorry, total BS! Jeff P is one if my favorite judges but man, how can one explain one show did BD have the better line all year? And of all nights tonight. BD is and amazing group and are just so good at every caption but no way now how do they stroke the drums better than SCV. Congratulations BD on a 19th championship. Well deserved, but they did not ever have the best drum line all season.
  12. Get it bloo. Devils are always the corps to beat, but seriously though, Bloo has the show to beat in 2019! Sayin.
  13. This is about the only thing this show needed. Cant wait to see it.
  14. Has Madison ever not broke 80 at season end? They have gained only 10 points since the first show and need 7 more to break 80 in the last 3 weeks. Dont see it happening.
  15. Id imagine the end of show we see today will not be what we see come finals. Other than that, its really something special.
  16. This. I said in another thread, there is no design whatsoever and it is glaringly obvious following top tier corps. The kids are doing a good job but they can only perform what they were given and what they were given isn’t much. There is a disconnect with Madison leadership as to what modern drum corps looks like. For the life of me I just don't get it. Perhaps a simple viewing of other World Class corps shows would share some insight, but who am I? I truly hope the kids have a great summer. They are working hard and have lots of people pulling for them. Sorry, but Madison needs leadership change soon, very soon.
  17. Just back from the show. Bluecoats were definitely superior. Only clear winning caption from SCV was percussion but that should be no surprise. Bloo’s show is a masterpiece and gonna be hard to pass, especially if and when they extend/change the ending. That said, I enjoyed all the shows but felt bad for my Scouts having to follow Bluecoats. I hate to say it but there really isn't a design in Madisons show at all compared to really any corps there. Where is the design team? Crossmen and Cavies have super cool shows and keep you engaged the entire time. SCV could turn down the thunderous goo a bit but all in all, what a great night of drum corps, best lineup ever at the classic.
