  1. True Colors Winter Guard is looking to recruit new members for our upcoming 2015 Competition Season!!! . We are a Non-Profit Youth Organization based out of Clifton, New Jersey, competing in the Tri State Area. Just promoted to Independent Regional A last season and finished in an impressive 2nd. Place!! Not bad for a first year Regional A Guard!!! We will be competing in MAIN, US Bands and possibly NJA! If anyone is interested or knows of someone who may be interested in performing with our amazing ensemble ... please feel free to leave me a message here! Or contact me directly at: acp0709@aol.com No experienced necessary. We will be more then happy to train. Come be a part of an amazing Performance Ensemble!!! Thanks!
  2. Kyle ... Just curious ... what HS? I live in North Jersey! Tony
  3. Definitely Northmont HS ... almost positive it was 1996! One of my favorites from them!
  4. Some of the information I was able to get off their web site: They all ready booked the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, April 17th, 2010. As for competiting units ... it does state it's going to be a Scholastic endeavor in their inaugural season. They have put up a Unit Registration form which can be submitted directly to them through the site. Which includes the option if you are interested in hosting a competition. I filled it out and recieved a thank you reply and was informed that I will be notified as to future updates. As for a schedule of competitions ... nothing. It also doesn't make mention of the costs of fees, dues if any and which sheets they plan on using. I hope they realize many Scholastic units usually submit their competitions and bus schedules just before or at the beginning of the new school year. I know I do. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help! Tony
  5. Any news??? Rumor has it they set a date for a championship? Supposedly scheduled a contest as well? Checked out their site ... no help!! Anyone know??? Tony
  6. You're not missing much ... they were somewhat heavy but spun and tossed nice! Kings are by far the better sabre. Fortes were all right ... at the time. Kings have and add a certain finesse to the written vocabulary! The Forte hilt tapered down and kind of wrapped around the grip. Tony
  7. Hi, Just curious ... What's the interest? The winter guard I teach used them before we went to Kings. I may be able to track them down. Tony
  8. From what I remember, not every member attended Eastridge HS. Therefore the disqualification! Had nothing to do with pipes, gas masks and white flour! But it was an amazing show anyway!!!!
  9. Not so much as a "springboard" per say! But as a "blocking" tool .................. similar to what gymnast do off the vault and balance beam to put them in motion!
  10. Now that you mention it .............. someone did say something about a void!! The empty rocking chair..........................??? The empty table .................................??? No flags .................................... ??? UHMMMMMM ......................................... INTERESTING!!!!!!
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ......................................................
  12. You said you've been involved with the activity for seven years! From what I can piece together, you most likely move better then you think! If not, do you really think you would have remained involved for this length of time? Knowing how much dance is now involved? We all wish we could move better. All the comments posted make wonderful sense. As long as you have an instructor that has movement/dance experience and knowledge of proper technique and how to teach it! Centering, moving from you core, the lift in your chest, so on and so forth! One thing I explain to my girls is how to "work through the floor". Think about pushing down through the floor. It creates energy, which enables you to cover distance and helps you to get up into the air. Along with breathing properly, it creates a sense of ease and gracefullness as you move. I also tell my girls, dance is a state of mind! If you think like a dancer, then you're a dancer. If you think you look ridiculous, then 9 out of 10 times .................. guess what? ............................ You'll look ridiculous.
  13. Here we go ................... Have to say ....................... and no one can dispute it - Sac was amazing in 1989!! I think the inovation of that show was misunderstood!!! WE now all know it set new standards for what we see today! I always thought, after seeing the Gordon Lightfoot show (it actually brought me to tears and still does), the judges didn't know how to react to it! They knew it was good but it definitely was different!!! So much for innovation and "thinking outside the box" ..........
