It's good to see that Impulse will go on national tour this year. It's Been several years that they havent gone on a national tour and I glad to see them back on the national scene

I will say this, my reputation is fine I teach at one of the top high marching bands in the State of California, and the people that know me know how I am and seeing that I have been on the percussion staff for two years who were the instructors that decided to leave? Please state your facts, when did DCI intervene? I am curious to know because like I said I go to 90% of the meetings with Mayra and there is a reason why I do that. I am not worried about my reputation at all because I know who I am. The bottom line is we all do this activity to give youth an opportunity to perform and enjoy this activity we call Drum Corp and that will not change. No matter what people put on blogs I will still be there for the kids and pass on the knowledge that previous instructors passed on to me. And by the way VK is NOT IN FINANCIAL TROUBLE so once again please get your facts straight.... But thank you for your concern

I am curious to know what committee that you are talking about. Because I was with Mayra at the DCI meeting in 2011 and I sat in on the meeting with Jeff Fiedler and Tom Hope, a So when was announced that was was being removed, was there an announcement by DCI? Because I was there at the RCC show in 2011. Please tell me where you get your facts?

Ok so I hope that this reply will put an end to all the speculation and wrong information being given. Unlike some of you I won't hide behind a screen name, my name is Ernie and I am the Assistant Director at VK, I was also involved with Impulse from 2002-2009. Enough about that, well to answer your questions the decision to not attend finals was a sound decision seeing that not even 20% of the kids paid the tour fees and also also that fundraising was available since January. So please before you comment please know all the facts. We had a parent meeting in June to notify the parents of the decision not to attend finals which was a sound one and all the parent agreed. All you guys wanna do is bash Mayra and Troy when you have no clue how hard both of them work for the kids, I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you blast a organization when you don't know all the facts makes you sound ignorant.If anyone you want to talk them send me a message but this has got to stop. Mayra only has to answer to the parents and the board and no to any of you. Have any of you attended a rehearsal or cooked food or drove? I didn't think so, this is the problem with Open class in Southern California we are so quick to judge instead of trying to help each other. That is all from me, I hope this shears some light

Ok I will clear this matter up. Impulse will perform at the So Cal shows and also 2 Nor Cal shows and Las Vegas show. Impulse also will provide the kids with other performance opportunities. My suggestion to you is that please know all the facts before you post. IYAO is about the educational aspect as well as performance aspect. BTW no transportation is provided to the local shows but SD, NOR CAL AND VEGAS transportation is provided.

In preparation for the 2009 season, Impulse will be holding its annual Open House with a slight twist. Attendees will not only be the first to learn about the 2009 show concept, but they can actually get a head start on the new season by working directly with the Impulse staff. Members of the staff for all sections will be present to answer questions and provide free workshops for all who attend. The Open House / Workshops will take place October 26th at Schurr High School in Montebello, CA 820 N.Wilcox ave Anyone interested in learning more about the musical arts (Impulse Style) are welcome to attend and take advantage of this great opportunity. Registration will begin at 10am with workshops concluding at 5pm. For those under 18 and interested in participating in one of the workshops, a parent must be present. Come check out what Impulse has in store for 2009, and get a first hand experience Marching and Playing with the corps. Remember to wear appropriate clothing for marching movements and instrument playing. Impulse is entering its 11th season as a musical arts organization solely dedicated to providing the youth of Southern California continued opportunities to perform at the highest level while entertaining audiences with the unique IMPULSE brand of musical athletics.
