  1. I am sick of Boston having a 'salute' to Conquest. In 1970 the two most enjoyable corps at the nationals(vfw) were BAC(music) and Troopers (drill). They were the only corps getting multiple standing ovations. Boston finished 2nd. It was that 1970 version of conquest, with Ed Denin's arrangement that drove the crowd wild. That is the version that the current crusaders need to play. For 30 years playing even a hint of that song has brought them standing o's. If they played that years version the crowd would again go wild! That version is what made them the crowd favorite back then, but even on the through the years Boston CD they don't have that year! They have five other years with inferior horn lines and GE music scores. Not to mention finals position! That was their best finish at either the VFW or DCI nationals-by a wide margin. Please Boston, give us what we want! The VFW miami recording each time we now chant 'ugh' then you hear girls scream. Bill D
  2. Nice review George, I got to see DATR last night and I was shocked that we both liked Cavies more than SCV, who is normally our favorite. I would absolutely love to see Cadets play Rocky Point in their show one more time. Thats my personal choice for best Cadet song. Bill D
  3. Nice review, Thanks. I don't know if it was biased or not, but I will see them Friday and Saturday at DATR then I'll let you know. Question, I read that the Cavies were planning to get real loud in a few parts of their show, have they done that yet, if so how's it sound? If not, then... Why the h*** not? Is it still planned? 4. Thanks for the review. I particularly liked seeing your order of enjoyable shows. ( do not agree with your choices but I enjoy seeing how other people feel about the different shows) I think everyone should rank shows by enjoyment in their reviews. Bill D
  5. Anyone have any tickets they need to sell for the Denver show? Bill D
  6. That was a fantastic review! Easily the best of the season!! Bill D I am an "old school guy". My idea of perfection is the top four in 72 or 74 or 84 or 88 or 2001. This top four is the best ever. I may be wrong. I will probably be saying it's the best top 9 ever by August. It is also nice seeing the level of competition improving after the top twelve. I remember in 74 there was about 30 good, enjoyable and competitive Div 1 corps. After being 4th in 72 27th finished 18th? in 74. then in 75 they were 4th! That type of movement is virtually impossible now. The Wilmington Cardinals that year had one of my favorite all time shows. To this day no one has had a better arrangement of "Knights in White Satin" or "Get It On" They had bus trouble b4 prelims arrived minutes b4 the show, and performed their worst show in a month and finished 23rd? I had thought they would have been top 12. Bill D
