Randy's just right with his answer above. Measurements is a science in itself. There are so many variables in a show situation that it would be impossible to say Randy's numbers are 100% definitive. As he says, they're for fun. Some factors: - Accuracy of the equipment - Direction of microphone - Directionality of microphone - Isolation of microphone from reflections and unrelated noise (such as crowd) - Bandwidth of equipment - Position of corps on field (huge impact... sound attenuates proportionally to square of distance, meaning twice the distance equates to 1/4 the power other things being equal) - Direction of horns (some corps might be better than others playing to the box, making sound in first row less) All that being said, the numbers should be pretty representative of Randy's experience in his seat even if they aren't necessarily what each corps would do in controlled studio conditions... thanks so much for taking the effort and sharing!

Technically, each 3 dB increase is a doubling of power, so BD is doubling the output of Pio in this example. Subjectively, it takes 10 dB increase for a perception of doubling volume, IIRC, so even though BD wouldn't be twice as loud, they'd definitely be noticeably louder.

I've never understood why people feel the need to attack Macs because they're not enough like Windows boxes. It feels a lot like people who want to add woodwinds and such to drum corps to make it more like high school marching band. "Your stuff should be more like mine because I like it better that way."

Yeah, it did come from the series, and that's my point. F-Troop may have been America's most lovable cavalry unit in the '60s, but in the charitable words (in my view) of Wikipedia, F-Troop was for "the army's least useful soldiers and misfits." I thought maybe someone who didn't know better started using the term, but the picture on the button shows that it was perfectly understood. I guess sometimes logic needs to be left at the door.

Do y'all realize that invoking the name "F-Troop" could be construed as being fairly insulting? Is there some reverse term of endearment thing going on here?

This is going from audition recommendations to relationship counseling, but it looks like you've got some tough decisions coming up for yourself. If your relationship is strong, it'll survive separation. If it's not, being together won't help much.

This would be ideal.
