  1. Wow, that would work out great for me. Bloomington hotels were just about sold out so I made reservations in...Louisville. We were just prepared to make the drive.
  2. I still get goosebumps whenever I think about Madison's encore performance after winning in '88. Remember that was the year that the placements weren't announced after quarters and semis. I, for one, didn't think Madison had a shot at the title even though I loved that show. I will NEVER forget the emotion and power of that encore performance. It was probably the most exciting show I have ever seen!!
  3. My thoughts and prayers to her friends and family. She was a wonderful, kind hearted woman.
  4. I couldn't agree with this statement more. Seeing the kids faces brings me an intense rush of memories and emotions, I really can't describe. No one can understand that unless you have marched.
  5. Again and again and again.... I remember....oh my oh my, do I remember!!!
  6. What exciting year for the Bluecoats and drum corps for that matter. I saw Bloo in Lisle and they were just GREAT!. Pasadena should be a rollercoaster. Congrats to Bloo and let this win fuel your intensity. Don't let up for one second.
  7. Do you know this for sure? The spot on Lawrence and Brodway next to Green Mill? I don't live too far from there. It's a great atomosphere.
  8. Long story filled with teenaged drama. Ask me sometime when I have a beer in my hand. I have no regrets, though. As you said, I marched two pretty darn good years.
  9. Saturday's show was one of the best drum corps shows I have ever seen. Ave Maria left tears in my eyes. I think Nikk spoke for many alumni, including myself, in his letter. Well, said. No matter how "grown up" I become, I will always love the Phantom Regiment. No one does it like they do... SUTA, Melissa Ritzman
  10. I'm no music educator, expert, or any of the sort. Just an ardent alumni and fan of drum corps, and I'll tell you why I HOPE that more people don't emulate Cavaliers design concept. I thought their show was a well executed, impressively designed, visual masterpeice. Their hornline sounded terrific, guard was great, feet were great, all the stuff you expect from a championship corps. Throughout their show I though to myself...wow, neat trick...or...that was cool...or don't they sound great. And then I stood up and gave my applause at the end of their show. During PR(especially), SCV, Devs, plus a few more, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, I had goosebumps. I cried during Ave Maria, snarled with their drumlines, and jumped up screaming with my fists pumping in the air...couldn't help myself. Thats the emotional piece of a music centered show that, IMHO, was not there for me for Cavs. My friends 6 year old thought Cavs were funny. I prefer my drum corps to make me feel rather than make me laugh. Just my thoughts.
  11. Okay, I have the yearbook out. 0 from California, 2 from England, 3 from Canada, and 62 from Illinois, lots also(don't have time to count) from the south especially drumline from TX and LA. I was surprised to see how many were from the ROckford/Chicago area.
  12. Just some support to this comment. I went "up to the big corps" in '89 (Regiment). I would say that at least 10-15% of that corps had marched PRC at some time. In addition, there were 13 rookies in PR '89 that had marched in PRC in '88. TImes sure have changed if now none of PR 2006 are even from ROckford. Hmmmm...
