  1. I’m nobody, that said I loved SCVs show. The music was just beautiful and the musicianship fantastic. They played and matched great and the pace and flow of the show was entertaining. Thank you SCV. By the way I volunteered for the Cavies for 11 years and my son marched 1999-2001. I love cavaliers show very much but tonight it was SCV for me.
  2. Loved their show, what did the props add to this show?
  3. I read RAMD all the time but was never brave enough to comment. I loved all the characters who were on there. Drum corps was new to me because my kid just started, I was told not to read RAMD because.....well I don’t remember what they said, but I had fun reading on there. Especially “notabando”. I would laugh every time at how mad people would get.
  4. I was a RAMD lurker.....confession time. I was a volunteer driver and kitchen staff for a Corp where my son was a MM. when I began they told us all not to go on RAMD, DCP, or any others. They said there were either kooks or people who would trash any Corp that wasn’t their own. Of course I had to see! I enjoyed most of RAMD and I must say the mention of notabando made me LOL. I always liked how as the worst arguments were raging he would come in with his drivel. My point is that an opinionated sometimes argumentative person like Stu from RAMD would most likely have been taken by DCI, or any director with a grain of salt. I don’t think the Corp I was with was any different than most of the others. During a grueling summer the last thing they need is someone coming up with “I heard on RAMD.....” rumors. It is too bad that because of this an important tip like this didn’t get taken seriously, but I can see how it happened.
  5. To the women who have so bravely come forward, as I read your stories you were saying my own words. Not in drum corps and not at the Cadets, but my words at 18yrs old in a similar situation. Thank you for your bravery. Because you have come forward some young girl may not have to experience the initial blaming of herself, or the years of self shame after. She will know when to call it what it is quickly and loudly and eventually abusive behavior will not be allowed to continue for decades as has happened. You are my heros.
  6. I wish I could recommend this thread more than once. My son was older when he started, I was not worried but interested in the activity. I went to experience it, but came to love it and work as a volunteer because I still love it, even though he has been out of it for 11 years. He did screw up a couple of times and was dealt with by the corps staff. It taught him a lot. He is now a productive member of society. What more can you ask for? As for getting a ministry to deal with corps policy and procedure I think that is a very bad idea.
  7. Either through the iPad by downloading the swifter app and signing in to dci from there, or if they have mountain lion installed they can do it from their computer and select the TV as their destination. This will mirror what is on the computer and by maximizing it the can have it full screen. The swifter app plays flash content on the iPad. There may be a charge, but it's worth it.
  8. That would be more interesting than...say....an old folks home!
  9. I loved this show when I saw it while volunteering. The members look like they are having fun with it!
  10. Hi all, is someone going to be there tonight who is willing to post on here? Last night was pretty quiet and I would like to hear anyone's impressions of all the corps. I love this site because it is the one place I can feel like I'm at a show even though I can't make it. Thanks in advance!
