  1. My thoughts (even though I only marched 1991) is that 1992's show was a much more well rounded show which always makes a particular section like the drum line better. 1991 was cleaner but 1992 was more well rounded. And the pit in 1992 was lightyears better than 1991 (did I just say that?) Steeley Jon

  3. Do you know where I can get a copy of the Pearl Advertisement "sweet stuff"?
  4. Thanks for all your kind words. I will be hiding in the shadows and enjoying you lay down the beats!
  5. I heard through the grapevine that Scott Johnson is working with the Renegades this year. Good news for the 'gades. ^0^
  6. Just a thought... SOLELY based on the momentum of last year's lines which will take the trophy next year?
  7. All the major drum companies have 1 or 2 people they sell their drums to after dci gets done with them. They are often purchased many months before the season is over so you have to reserve your order way in advance. The one shop for Pearl is in Nashville - I forget the name but give Pearl a call and ask them.
  8. I think it is pretty easy... 81 Bridgemen 89 Cadets 91 Crossmen (maybe a bit biased but if you havn't seen us then check it out - I think you'll agree) 92 Vanguard 93 Star 94 Dev's (Maybe the best ever) (I don't know 1996-2002 because I removed myself from the activity) 2003 Vanguard
  9. Funny you should say that Remo should buy the rights to the Marathon.... In 1990 Crossmen used a Premier head (I can't remember the name) that had the feel of a mylar but a sound between a Tendura and Mylar. It was a gold color and had the texture of a Tendura without the coating (You could actually see the weave of the head. The perfect combination of feel and projection. In 1991 when I joined Crossmen, I believe Remo threatened to sue Premier because the head that was used in 1990 was too close to a Remo Patent. Then we ended up using Tenduras (great sound and feel anyway) It would be interesting to see if Premier could brush off the past and sell the Marathon rights to Remo. BTW -Misener is one of my best friends.
  10. As the lucky person who's sole responsibility was to maintain these drums on tour, I felt the sound was WELL WORTH the effort. I agree, the drums sounded quite dark, an exceptional compliment to the type of music we played that year. It didn't hurt that the snare line was #### clean with the usual quality of sound produced by Thurston lines! Remeber there were only 6 of them at finals. Talk about a cutting sound! Glad to see people appreciated it!
  11. Does anyone know if there will be a lot scene for finals? I heard last time nats was in Orlando each line warmed-up at their repective rehersal facilities.
  12. Oh - good point - Is that a Harvard degree or Stanford?
  13. Actually I think Cadets and Devils are great - just not sure how they are beating Vanguard, though. Besides your sarcasm can you give me any other legitimate reasons they are beating Vanguard?
  14. Check out the most recent scores - losing to Devils and Cadets consecutively.
  15. I'd love to hear if anyone else feels that Vanguard is gettin' the shaft this year. There is NOT a more musical bunch out there and tell me another group that has a: 1. Better Bass line 2. Better Cymbal Line 3. Better Pit All are taken for granted and year after year Vanguard gets the shaft for the "assumptioin" that these sections are the best in DCI. Ream - what are your thoughts?
