  1. The news that keeps coming out of the corps is pretty fantastic. And it looks like the members are pretty pleased as well...which is good, since I know a lot of people were pretty shaken when we woke up one day to find our entire staff posting resignations. As they say: all's well that ends well!
  2. Huh. Well I feel dumb now for not picking up on that. Corpsreps failed me!
  3. What is the name of the song BD's flugelhorn solo at the beginning of their show is from? And does anybody know where I can find a recording? (YouTube, Google, and iTunes have all turned up nothing)
  4. Thank you for putting this message out in a far more eloquent manner than I did. Every word of that is true to the experiences I had as well.
  5. Excuse me, but as someone who marched under that staff for three years, I hope they aren't gone. They are the most incredibly talented teachers I have had the pleasure of working with, and I hope many others have the opportunity to receive their world class instruction. The troopers membership has no complaints about our staff.
  6. Well boys and girls, the time has come. In accordance with rules set forth by the Troopers staff, I will no longer be posting on DCP. So, it is with heavy heart that I announce that the Colorado Drum Corps Experience is shutting down and closing its doors for the next several years. "Its been a good run," said director Connor Pack. "We've been able to test out a lot of new ideas in music education and show design that we hope to use again in the future, once our posting abilities are returned. Until that day, we have lots of work in DCI to accomplish, and we will still be around in the history books." SPECIAL EDIT: To keep the CODCE from completely shutting down, we will still be competing in Fantasy Marching Arts and Micro Marching League. Keep an eye out for us. Username trooptpt80 So guys, this really is my final post for the next several years. You can bet I'll still be around browsing and reading, but I must remain silent. Its been fun getting to know you all, and I hope all goes well for everyone. Farewell, Connor Pack (aka Jedihunter80) :worthy: :worthy:
  7. That stadium looks...tiny...for a championships show...
  8. I predict that no matter the placement, Troop will beat Blue Knights!
  9. Really wanting to see this one, it looks amazing! Any news on a special screening at April camp...
  10. As someone who will be performing on that field this year, all I can say is WOOOHOOOO! I bet this could be the highest QF attendance ever lol
  11. Oh, forgot to mention the dumb showers that only give you a minute or so of water every you press the little button lol and they get hotter every time
  12. I'm also still kinda new to the activity, I really became a fan in 2007. I saw my first DCI show in 1996 when I was only 3 years old, so I have no memory of it, but as long as I can remember I've always been fascinated by the marching arts and starting in elementary school I was hell bent on being in marching band. It was through high school marching band that I was re-introduced to drum corps (I had never been to a show since that one in 1996) when I heard some upperclassmen talking about the Blue Devils at lunch one day. I started looking up drum corps vids on that-one-video-site-that-shall-not-be-named, and was hooked/obsessed instantly. I loved the pure brass sound and the awesome blend and power, it gave and still gives me goosebumps. From there my taste has matured, now that I have been to Drums Along the Rockies twice and Finals once in 09. I now can tell the difference between styles and quality and can truly say what I like and dislike, and after I march for the first time this year and start working on becoming a music major I'm sure that my opinion will mature further. As for synths, amps, etc, I don't mind as long as they are not overplayed and are used TASTEFULLY. And I would absolutely NOT approve of woodwinds (yes I'm going back to that can of worms lol) I also like watching lots of the older "dinosaur" shows as well as the "modern" ones. So for this "newbie", the thing that draws me to corps and makes me like shows is the sound, namely the lines that can produce walls of sound and play powerful, ENTERTAINING music that sounds good. But I also like visual stuff that is well executed and fun.
  13. I do believe this was meant for the DCPI fantasy corps page lol
  14. This is a modern story too, but the Troopers are currently doing camps at Ft. Morgan High School in Colorado, and the lights are computer-programmed to turn off exactly at 11. And then they always come back on at 1 AM without fail. And once we finished rehearsal and had a corps meeting in the dark because we decided to go to midnight
