Don't loose hope! The Denver show seemed a sure rainout when looking at the forecast and it all missed us by mere miles. Positive vibes, Karma, Praying, the Force, whatever you personally believe in should be focused on Denton TX tomorrow for a nice window of weather to Drum Corps by.

The Viola is not mic'd. It is an electric Viola. I know...semantics. But still. -
Flying under the radar as usual. Right where we like to be. :-)

Is Genesis a good place to start?
DUCKSNEST replied to koburd's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
Based on what I saw last year I think Genesis would be a fantastic corps to march in. One of the most impressive new Open Class Corps I have seen in recent memory. I'm sure you would have a great time with them. -
Hey there Open Class! It is nearly June and this forum is nearly dead! So tell us what is going on in your corps! Tell us how you are going to kick butt this year!! Make your predictions!!! Argue about stuff!!! Commence!!

Oregon Crusaders 3 WC Semi's Performance
DUCKSNEST replied to OC Euph's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
I think Ace is a little bitter. Obviously he has no idea what OC has gone through this year. I think all of us in Drum Corps land should support each other even if we are rivals. Because without each other we are simply an exhibition. Go Drum Corps!! -

Corps Moving back to "G" Horns
DUCKSNEST replied to fleurghost's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
OK, so educate me. What is the big deal with G bugles? Is this just a longing for the old days, or can you list actual advantages to using them? -
OC is on the road!! The OC tour fee this year was $2000. While I would agree that some serious attention needs to be paid to fundraising and being more proactive, I find it hilarious how everyone on here writes like they really know what is going on with a corps that they have nothing to do with. I appreciate everyone that donated to OC both locally and in the DCP family. OC will finally get scored on open class score sheets in five days. It will be interesting to see how their numbers come out. See some of you in Indy!

Best and most unique ways to raise funds....
DUCKSNEST replied to Contreuph's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
In addition to sending out sponsorship letters to everyone in your family and family friends, you should consider making a presentation to your local service groups. Last year we had four OC members from Astoria and they made presentations to the Rotary, Lions, Elks, and Kiwanis. All four of the groups made contributions. We also held four car washes and made over $400 for each one. Every little bit adds up and suddenly you are paid up. -
I am sad. It was fun and exciting to root for two northwest corps in open class. I really hope they come back in 2010.

Oregon Crusaders fielded 62 members this year. Size may be a factor, but OC beat Teal Sound which is twice their size. I think show difficulty and quality brass sound (not just loud) makes a big difference. Also, the depth of the organization and it's ability to produce and fund a significant tour makes a big difference. Logically, the more shows you perform in, the better your end product. Just my opinion.
