  1. Been a while since I've been on DCP, but I'll go ahead and throw out my annual disclaimer: We at ALLIANCE have no idea who this mysterious "BOSMarcher" is and he (or she) in no way speaks for or represents our corps. Over the years, we've unsuccessfully tried to invite this "fanboy" (or mole or whatever) to rehearsal multiple times, but they refuse to show their face or identify themselves. It annoys the crap out of us, too.
  2. ALLIANCE Drum & Bugle Corps in Atlanta, GA has just released our 2014 production entitled: "DOOMSDAY" We are a DCA all-age corps and pride ourselves on being a greatly satisfying alternative to DCI for the following individuals: those who cannot commit the time and/or money to a full DCI summer tour those who aspire to march with a DCI corps, but may need a stepping stone before they make the leap those who have recently aged out of DCI and are looking to reconnect with a DCI-like environment and show design We also welcome those who have never marched drum corps at all, but have an interest in the activity and would like to begin a new chapter in their marching career! Over the past 4 seasons, more than 25 ALLIANCE alumni have gone on to march with over 10 DCI World Class drum corps, including Crown, BD, Bluecoats, The Cavaliers, The Cadets, Phantom, Spirit of Atlanta, and others. In 2012 and 2013, each of the DCI World Champion corps had an ALLIANCE alumnus as a member! If ALLIANCE sounds like a good fit for you or someone you know, we'd love to see you at our Open House Camp on December 15, 2013 at River Ridge High School in Woodstock, GA! Please view our exciting 2014 promo video below and visit our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/alliancedrumcorps for more info. Thanks for your time,

  5. Dan's right; you've got two great options in the Atlanta area! It's never too late to start a drum corps career. As far as time commitment, a southern corps' schedule is slightly different than 'Legoman' described because of the lighter show schedule. Most DCA shows are "up north" and it's just not financially feasible to travel to every show once or twice a month. But there are usually 2 or 3 DCA shows in the south and a performance in the Georgia Dome at the DCI Southeastern Regional before heading up to Rochester for DCA Championships. You can view our Tentative 2014 Schedule (without contest dates) here: Alliance Calendar Most of your assumptions about the amount of work it takes to march a DCA corps are correct. It's a TON of information in a small amount of time. What's interesting is that the individuals with "professional careers" tend to thrive because they understand time management. They become great leaders-by-example for our college and high school students, who usually have all the time in the world and don't always know how to manage it effectively (We've all been there!). In 2010, we had an ER doctor in the corps who drove from Indiana every weekend! He ALWAYS had his "stuff" together and was mentally and physically prepared for each rehearsal. Do your research and ask questions; Best of Luck!
  6. ALLIANCE Drum & Bugle Corps is excited to announce our return to competitive status for the 2014 DCA season! ALLIANCE will hold our Open House at 9:00am on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at River Ridge High School in Woodstock, GA. Open House is a chance for prospective members to meet the staff and be introduced to ALLIANCE techniques and procedures, and will be the first step in the formal audition process for the 2014 season. The corps will be rehearsing in the Cobb/Cherokee area for the 2014 season. The corps' management team has used the past two seasons to restructure, restrengthen, and refocus on delivering a quality product to the marching field. While many changes have taken place behind the scenes, ALLIANCE has brought back a few key individuals to lead the corps next season. Josh Matthews will return as Program Director and Visual Caption Head after serving in those roles from 2008-2010. Returning for his 5th season managing the brass section, Daniel Gray will serve as Brass Caption Head. Alan Sears will again lead our acclaimed battery and front ensemble as Percussion Caption Head, a position he has held since 2007. Larry Summerlin, with the corps since 2006, will share Percussion Caption Head duties with Mr. Sears. And an essential addition to the staff, Billy Pacifico, will take the reins as Colorguard Caption Head along with Katie O'Connor. Look for our booth at the DCI Atlanta Southeastern Championship at the Georgia Dome this Sunday! Many of our tech positions are filled, but anyone interested in joining our instructional team can submit their resume to jmatthews@alliancedrumcorps.org. We've also got a new look and website; please take a moment to "Like" us on facebook and "Follow" us on Twitter! We look forward to rejoining all of our DCA competitors on the field in 2014!

  9. We were a recipient of $20,000 from Chase last year, which makes us ineligible this year. And yes this year there are rules around operating expenses. **Charities must be recognized as a 501©(3) public charity in the GuideStar database as of 12/31/10 and have annual operating expenses equal to or greater than $1,000,000 and equal to or less than $10,000,000, and must meet other eligibility requirements found in the full Official Rules.**
  10. ALLIANCE Drum & Bugle Corps is excited to announce our 2011 production, INFERNO. Keeping true to the corps’ energetic persona, ALLIANCE will explore multiple facets of ‘the flame’ and its role in the journey of life. Using source material from classical, wind ensemble, and pop music, brass arranger Ryan George will rework many recognizable themes and melodies and present them “ALLIANCE-style”. Percussion arrangers Alan Sears and Larry Summerlin are returning to provide ALLIANCE with another aggressive, innovative battery book and a complementary front ensemble arrangement. Drill designer Josh Matthews and the corps’ newly acquired color guard caption head, Ashley Jackson, will develop a visual package to portray this fiery show on the football field. We hope audiences will be excited and intrigued by INFERNO and will help us “Fan the Flames” in 2011. ALLIANCE 2011: INFERNO

  12. ALLIANCE Drum & Bugle Corps is proud to announce Joey Glaeser as Visual Caption Head for the 2011 season! Joey Glaeser returns for his second season with ALLIANCE after serving as a high brass and visual technician in 2010. He is currently seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from The University of Georgia. On trumpet, his primary instrument, Mr. Glaeser has most recently studied with Mike Tiscione of the San Francisco Symphony, and has previously studied with Brandon Craswell, W. Fred Mills, C. Brad Whitfield, Edward Sandor, Mark Hughes, and Brian Reith. He has studied conducting with University of Alabama Associate Director of Bands and Conducting Randall Coleman, as well as UGA conducting faculty members F. David Romines, Michael Robinson, Tom Keck, and Gregg Gausline. Mr. Glaeser has performed with a number of prestigious ensembles including the GMEA all-college band, the University of Georgia Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and Symphonic Band, the GMEA District V Honor Band and Honor Orchestra, the Fulton County Honor Orchestra, various concert bands, jazz bands, and brass ensembles at Milton High School in Milton, GA under Randall Coleman, Dennis Naughton, and Michael Barr. He has also performed in the UGA Redcoat Band, the Milton High School marching band, and three seasons with the 9-time World Champion, 19-time National Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps where he currently serves on staff as an assistant tour director. As a senior at Milton High School, Mr. Glaeser rehearsed and performed as a student conductor with the Milton High School Symphonic Band. As a student-teacher at UGA, he has conducted rehearsals of the Winder-Barrow High School Wind Ensemble and has conducted rehearsals and performances with the Hopewell Middle School Bands. He has taught marching and brass technique at Flowery Branch HS, Milton HS, North Springs HS, and Cedar Shoals HS. Mr. Glaeser has worked in event coordination at US Scholastic Band Association marching competitions and Bands of America/Music for All’s Grand National Championships, Super Regionals, and National Concert Band Festival/National Orchestra Festival. ALLIANCE Program Director Josh Matthews says of Mr. Glaeser, “his experience, attitude, competitiveness and, most importantly, the overwhelming positive feedback we received from the 2010 membership regarding his teaching methods and abilities, more than qualifies him for this new position with our corps. We are excited to see where he will take the visual program in 2011.”
