  1. I'm not sure if this is permitted, but Austin Stars Performing Arts Association is selling #TeamTexas Drum Corps Edition Tshirts to raise money to help support drum corps, sound sport, and drumline battles in Texas. Please support the cause by purchasing a tshirt today! Great to show support at a TX show or at DCI Open or World finals! https://squareup.com/market/atx-winterguard/teamtexas-dcr
  2. Are you asking cost to participate in an open class corps for a season or the cost to run an open class corps for a season?

  4. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Austin Stars Performing Arts Association and Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps Announce Collaborative Effort "Austin Stars Performing Arts Association (ASPAA), under Executive Directors Michael J. Vazquez and Robert Galindo, in collaboration with Johnathan Doerr, Corps Director for Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps (Guardians DBC), have approved and recognized Guardians DBC as a 501©(3) project under the ASPAA umbrella as permitted by ASPAA bylaws set forth. This effort has been months in development as ASPAA and Guardians DBC have developed business, financial, and organizational systems to help create a junior corps that we believe is on the right track to eventually become recognized as a viable "open class" organization in Drum Corps International (DCI). According to ASPAA Executive director Robert Galindo, “The steps both ASPAA and Guardians DBC have taken, we believe, will create an atmosphere for future growth and development in drum corps." ASPAA, with the more recent demise of both junior and senior level corps in Texas, has taken a proactive approach to assisting fledgling musical-education and performance organizations, in the hopes that through both organizational and financial development drum corps will begin to flourish again in Texas. Sincerely, Robert Galindo and Michael J. Vazquez Executive Directors Austin Stars Performing Arts Association B: 512-989-1798 C: 512-587-3491 www.austinstars.org
  5. Here we are! Back with the information you want! Our event on Facebook The Texas Drum Corps Preview website Hope to see you there!
  6. This may be an odd question -- but if it's operation "grow drum corps", shouldn't it be going to some process that helps increase the number of corps? Isn't this more like operation "support current corps"?

  8. However, USSBA is still not a national circuit. It's still concentrated in the northeast and focused on scholastic guards. I would think South Brunswick, which is currently a 2-day regional could become an elite regional. There are certainly enough guards that could attend.
  9. Hey everyone! Please check out the ASPAA website for an updates Texas Drum Corps Preview schedule!
  10. There are two ways you can vote: One: text 107041 to this number: 73774. Standard text messaging rates apply. Two: visit http://refresheverything.com/austinstarspaa (or this shortcut: http://pep.si/jJSgL7 ) and click the “vote for this idea” button. This method requires that you create an account on Pepsi’s “refresh everything” website, but you can also find other causes to vote for. You can vote using both methods one time per day (2 votes total per day, per person). Voting lasts until the end of June. Thank you to so many who have already voted and posted in the comments section to let us know! Thank you!
  11. Hi all, Normally we post in the DCA forums, but after a recent survey we conducted, we are hoping to get the support of DCI Open class corps and fans to help us. We are attempting to start an Open class corps in Austin, TX. Our application to the Pepsi Refresh grant program has been accepted, and all we need are your votes to help us get the startup funds for this group. Please Vote to Start an Open-Class Drum Corps in Austin http://www.pepsirefresh.com/AustinStarsPAA Thank you for your consideration!
  12. Hi all, Due to some unforeseen circumstances, a number of groups will not be attending the TX Drum Corps Preview this year. I have updated the initial post to reflect this.
