  1. Or they could just use "Angels in The Outfield" perhaps pull Christopher Lloyd in to do voice narration haha
  2. As a Saxophonist I never wanna see a woodwind on the field with a Drum Corps...I've busted my #$# so far to learn a brass instrument so I can try out for a corps. That Bluecoats show (I have forgotten what year) with the prop saxes made me cringe. Drum corps needs to stay the way it is...I'm all for staying up to date but woodwinds is way too far. At my band camp this summer it was raining 80% and I blame that for the average season we had. Rain ruins everything when it comes to woodwinds...but hey I was out there with the rest of our brass line with our horns out. Woodwinds + Rain = Bad Outcome
  3. The newest addition to the glassmen's hornline....Vivian's Yell
  4. Okay, so this past summer I had the chance to atted all three World Class events in Indy. For those of you who were there I'm sure you remember the guy right there in the front, who would go nuts and wave a British flag whenever Glassmen came on. This guy was alot of fun and so on, but I was wondering is he a volunteer...does he show up every year etc. Thanks
  5. Wow, this is getting pretty intense lol I've talked to Pioneer on the phone before, I have been recruited by them etc. I cannot afford the plane tickets to and fro wisconsin The main reason I am not marching this summer is because I have applied and interviewed, ironically enough today, but it is something i have wanted to do for a long time so i am doing it this summer. The 2011 season is when I am marching, I would go to some camps for experience but the holidays etc have been a real mess for me and so on I looked at Bluecoats and really like their program and especially price wise Several folks have guided me and have seen me march and play, they agree i should start in Open Class and I am going to take that into consideration in my choice I'm not limiting myself due to my talent, I am factoring in price, distance, and if a carpool is available On a side note it really is amazing how helpful and friendly all of you have been with this and i appreciate it more than you may ever know haha Thanks
  6. Yes Glassmen is an option for sure, ive been guided by two DCI vets that are on staff with my marching band and they both agree i need to probably start out Open class to get a feel for the corps world if you know what I mean
  7. Well I play both baritone/euphonium pretty much the same thing when you get to the grits of it. Yea I posted on their facebook page, I am just really focused on marching somewhere DCI, I just do not know where because I don't have the resources to just drive 8 hours and get turned down, even though that may happen. Cary is close only 4 1/2 hours and cap reg is 6, crown is even closer but that would be an option after some experience I just really wanna choose the right place to go, and this is such a great place to narrow down my options
  8. Wow, thanks to all of you for the advice, it really helps talking to you vets When is Platinum getting ready to take off, cause hey, 4 hours isnt bad, I have family in Illinois which isnt but 13 hrs away Capital Regiment really impressed me at finals this past year and I really do hope they return I am going to my local community college for my first two years of school as a music major on saxophone, and there is no marching club or band so on to be in..which is why I want to start small like on open class, I would rather march DCA after I age out But if anyone is affiliated with or knows anything about Platinum let me know I am very interested! Thanks again everyone Oh and also if I ever marched World class (if I am still in VA because who knows where college will take me) I was looking more towards ohio or north carolina
  9. I'm 17 and I havent marched corps YET but i will very soon, I am a die-hard fan though and always will be
  10. Okay so I have found myself in yet another pickel I was planning on marching in 2011, with Capital Regiment, well they went inactive for 2010 and likely a few more years so my plans are now jumbled. I live in Southwest Virginia and I am primarily a Saxophonist, I have played Euphonium for marching and now concert just this year so im not very seasoned as a player but i have good M&M technique. I am stumped where i could go and try out and make it, it needs to be within driving distance because i do not have the money to fly anywhere. If any of you have an idea of a Open Class corps near Southwest Virginia or even a World Class corps that a inexperienced person like myself could get in, any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  11. Well I suspect a cavies change would come in the form of their sash as they have done in the past ie the Planets Crossmen sould stick with the no cape white, maybe add red around the cross? Pioneer needs a change for the better, get looking sharp may draw some more kids in Crown will probably morph their usually uni's into what the show's central color or theme is Madison is going old school, and is gonna kick some *&( around Spirit's old uni's were nice but a change is going to be a nice breath of fresh air Cadets, well i kinda liked the patch, just because i like things that the audience doesnt necesarily can see but the corps members can, and on top of it it is a salute to the past Cadets which is always nice. Those are my thoughts up to know on all this, June had better hurry up
  12. Alrighty so this has kinda been my obsession in Drum Corps, I love the uniforms and the little additions or accents corps will incorporate to enhance the feeling of the show. So here is this thread to post anything you know about Uniform changes or additions etc. All I ask is that there are no "oh wouldnt it be cool if BD changed their color to red" type stuff only ideas that people have heard floating around would be nice Let this thread Begin!
  13. I was also at Kingsport and noticed that, there was also a mellophone in Phantom Regiment who, during rehearsal, either played or did crunches on the sideline...which really impressed me with his ethic. I mean he might not be out there but he was still pushing himself. I don't know if anyone else notcied this but when Spirit performed there was a member who marched with his arm in a sling...no horn just marched. Would this be because the injury was going to heal quick enough so that they wouldnt need to bring someone else in?
  14. I'm glad to hear good happenings in the Carolinas I'm just curious if they will end up putting the green drum heads on the basses, in the fan net vid they the 1,2,3,4 basses had green heads the 5th had a rose bowl head....anyway if anyone knows about this or has a clear look at the uniform change would be kewl, are the shako's gonna be sporting a new look too?
  15. mixed feelings here, but as many have said i need to see it on the field with everyone else in them. I think that it will be a neat effect with a basically all white unit, since a silver sash is not as contrasting as the black. will be something i will have to see before i decide btw i was wondering if BD is changing their unis in any way, possibly removing the side cape..i hope not i also loved the white plumes
