Exactly! I have become far more skeptical of the Cadets hype machine in the past few years. I want to see positive results in the competition field like they’re accomplishing with rebuilding the corps’ reputation.

The members should ask for their money back. They’ve been victims of a bait and switch.

I’m not going to fuss about the show design. It needs work. We will be in the 7-9 range this year. Hopefully, we’ll be seventh. I don’t want to hear the excuse of lack of talent. There’s plenty of talent on that field. I’m surprised that after the black unis from 2015 we’re using such a dark color palette again. It makes the good foot and leg technique look muddled.

EXACTLY what I thought when I watched it. There should be players up and down the stair the entire show. It is underutilized in the ballad.

Take sixty pictures during the weekend with a smartphone. Post two a day with clever text. Takes two minutes daily. Let’s see. What would you do? Oh, that’s right! Nothing.

I have professional obligations that preclude camp visits. My customers come first in my professional life. Cones of silence aren’t communications. They’re death in today’s media environment. Ask any business owner.

It wouldn’t take much effort. If they don’t want any show music leaking then that’s fine. As a Cadets fan, I want to know what’s happening with the members. How long does it take to do an Instagram? A tweet with a pic? Seconds...

I can understand the need to wait in order to secure licensing. I can even understand waiting to announce themes until the season starts. What I find inexcusable is the nearly complete media blackouts from corps. There is hardly a whisper for nine months. It’s not like they’re reinventing the wheel, for the real innovation in pageantry comes from WGI. Honestly, if I didn’t communicate with my customers for nine months I would be driving a Ford Pinto and eating ramen every day. This practice has gone to an extreme.

I don’t see why a show is unable to use props and have cool drill.

Honestly, it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. We’ve seen some gruesome injuries occur on the field before these contraptions and acrobatics started. I’ve seen the most safety conscious companies have accidents. It’s not a matter of “if”; it’s a matter of “when.”

Perhaps it was a problem of the show’s design rather than its announcement.

Just thinking off the top of my head. Can the use of the slides in Bluecoats 2016 be considered drill? It was choreographed like drill, so to speak.

You can’t go wrong with Brubaker. I love his ending to ‘91 Cavaliers. Sacktig’s ‘09 WSS ballad was money. The ‘00 diamond cutter is fun. I liked Crown’s 3D drill in ‘13. BD’s battery racing around the rack in ‘03 was fun. Z-pull!

There’s several posts about ‘93 Star v Cadets in the past few pages. I didn’t realize I was responsible for placing my post into context. As far as ‘19 is concerned, it’s moot to post anything about it since everybody is in the Shako of Silence. However, I do wish all the members health and happiness this season.

Re: Star v Cadets ‘93 debate The judges were right Saturday night. Cadets had a better show. ‘91 Star was deserving of the championship. ‘93 was not.

I’ve thought the DC area would be ideal for the Cadets. Lots of schools, plenty of money, access to major airports would make a rebuild much easier.

Dirt, plain and simple. To trained ears, it’s as plain as day. Put Cadets next to Vanguard. You’ll understand then. It’s going to take a couple of seasons to get the standard raised to accustomed levels. Patience!

I must admit that as far as singing goes, this is, by far, the best performance I’ve heard to date ever. Having quality voices really makes a difference. BTW, this show is miles ahead of 16 and 17. It’s very enjoyable, and for the first time since 15, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next year. I would suggest an emphasis to improve guard and visual next season. It looks as though brass and percussion are heading in the right direction. I like the drill though the uni hurts the impact points. I hope everyone is as pleased as I.
