  1. Prediction for 2014? DCI again ups the age limit. This time to 23. (jokes, haha).
  2. Appreciate all the responses, folks. I'll definitely take all of those into consideration.
  3. Background Info: I'm currently 22 years old. Never marched Drum Corps. Desire: To march drum corps. But have started making progressions in my career path that limit me from devoting full-time to DCI; reason why I'm posting under DCA. Question: Take Alliance for example. Based out of Atlanta, close enough for me considering I'm from Alabama. In the DCA world, how much time and effort goes into putting a show on the field? For the most part, if I'm not mistaken, these are "weekend corps" which to me sounds like a TON of work goes into a small amount of time, to get a show put on the field that's adequate enough to field a corps. Bottom line: I'm still a guy who loves the Drum Corps activity. I lost all my chances in DCI and I regret that. I am now involved heavily with my lifelong career, but still want to make room/time to march a small corps if possible. Get the picture? Help me out.
  4. Any word on attendance in the Dome tonight?
  5. To whoever asked about some warmup areas not being accessible...I'm not so sure that is true. Today marks the first time since 2006 I haven't attended the Atlanta show in some form. I've been in the lot at least 3-4 times and not a single warmup area was blocked off. During the day and even into the early evening most everyone stays in the HUGE parking lot. But I have seen some of the later corps stay down closer to the entrance of the Dome (where the public can't walk to I'm pretty sure). If it is raining, I have no idea where they'd move everything, but the GWCC is huge and could hold a ton of corps if the need to warmup indoors is there.
  6. Well considering the announcement will come on the Fan Network Live Broadcast this afternoon, I would assume it has something to do with the Fan Network (AKA not as "big" as expected).
  7. And for my 2 cents. Technically, no the stadium was not "packed out." There might have been a few holes here and there but none noticeable enough. The high school band attendance really made a huge difference, as it should have. As someone who has recently become familiar with the area, I'd say all in all the show was a huge success. The venue is great. As a matter of fact, it would have been awesome even last year, but the recent upgrades to the stadium (with the new turf) made it even better. The construction of the high school had to be overlooked, but unless you were just searching for it, it really didn't become a factor for anyone. From what I could tell, every show was different and provided each person in attendance with a different take on the night. Pioneer...gotta love them. "It is well," and the other one (can't remember the name) got great response from the crowd. Mandarins really showed out in my book. The show was a little different, but it all made sense to me (and further reiterates itself that a lot of Mandarins' members do not look American to me). I honestly thought Jersey Surf was the crowd favorite as far as musical content goes. They got everyone in the stands into it, and heck there was even a high school student in front of me who started crying. The Academy...didn't quite connect with their show as much as the rest, but still good execution. Blue Stars' show was a little dark, but I enjoyed it. And BS percussion...solid (especially snare line). Spirit, keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep getting those positive results.
  8. Anyone know of Spirit's rehearsal schedule today at Opelika? If they're having it?
  9. Spirit is at Opelika HS (tonight's show site) today and tomorrow from what I heard/read.
  10. Anyone have any idea Spirit's rehearsal schedule today/tomorrow? I heard it would be posted on the FB page, but I'm not seeing anything.
  11. Awesome! Thanks for the info. As noted below, Crown looks to be at Pinson Valley. All of these areas are within reasonable distance with each other. Great for the area and hopefully they'll get some on-lookers at rehearsal.
