I love phantom this year. Unfortunatley if they can't beat the blue devils this early with their much cleaner show (pr) then they aren't beating them later in the season. Sad day that dancing around a horse (which was so looked down upon on pink tables in 2006 but is ok now) beat the pagenty and cleanliness of Turandot.

I for one think this may become one of if not my favorite Cadets show, and possibly one of my favorite shows of all time. For your own insight my top 5 of all time are... 1. Cadets 2000 2. Blue Devils 1999 3. Cadets 1997 4. SCV 1997 5. Phantom 2005 I really think cadets 2012 might slip I'm there.

Glad to see this shows finally getting some love again! I have yet to hear a mello line attempt as hard of music as 1997 cadets. The whole thing about that show is that the difficulty never stopped!

wishful thinking...they were .1 ahead haha, that is pretty uncommon for them.

I mean they almost got beat in their golden caption of guard...something might just be slipping ;)

interesting that cavies scored closer than ever and won even more captions and bluecoats are even closer...Not gonna touch them is a little exaggerated i would think considering they are already.

Morning, Was at the show last night! What a great night of drum corps! Best top eight (or top 7 and #9) in a while! A few thoughts Music City - Fun Program, awesome flags. Pretty dirty on attacks. Boston - Crazy volume, second movement was a little to long for me, last movement is amazing - Love how they added in the conquest theme. Phantom - Great show, the beginning and end is very cool. Guard MUCH improved. Still think visual effect is hurting them. SCV - LOVED IT. Hope they keep putting out shows like this, great classic music. Visual is getting better, can't wait for finals, hoping for 5th! Cadets - Love the show, but pretty dirty still. As much as I LOVE Hopkins, the added drum major stuff needs to go. They play their butts off. Crown - Great Ensemble sound, very enjoyable, but don't know if it can win, would be awesome if they could. Great guard. Cavaliers - Best Cavies show since 2000. Love the mic'ed trumpets, guard a little dirty tonight. Bring it on at finals. Bluecoats - 2010 champions, or I hope. A Great Package! Asphalt Cocktail is my fav part of the 2010 season. Blue Devils - Very Clean. I am not a fan but can respect their cleanliness and the guard. I do not agree with their GE being so high, very small crowd response and just not thinking their music content is not there. Thinking they will lose eventually, maybe not until finals. GREAT SEASON! Looking forward to seeing Atlanta today!

GET EM SCV! Love the show this year, they haven't disappointed me in shows since 1998, and that wasn't too bad! Hoping for 5th and up this year!

I love this!!! I share this opinion with you exactly. I don't mind this either really, I love the cross pollination as you put it. I hope we start to understand and accept that BOA - Drum Corps - WGI are here for one purpose, to educate and excite people into the arts and music. Lets not pretend that DCI is leading the revolution. Really all 3 are, and I like it! It is all marching band and all educating young people in the arts and leadership, that is what is great about it! Thanks for the post!

So now that Minnesota got mostly rained out, how will we get a line up for Fridays competition in Murfreesboro? I will be there and pulling for the Blue Stars to be there!!! No offense to Boston.. Wondered if anyone knew the procedure. Thanks!

Please understand I do not underestimate the excellence of the show. As easy, boring, disjunct, unappealing it may be, they perform it well. But a corps that is performing just as well, with a harder show, and a better understanding of general effect should be awarded the higher placement. However, the Blue Devils winning tonight would not have been an issue, if it were close, because 99 percent of the drum corps community tonight will agree, that the Blue Devils did not deserve to almost win by 3 points. So celebrate, please and enjoy, that is what it is all about. While the rest of us regroup and wonder what happened to common sense in judging.

This is pretty sad. I don't know what DCI judges see, but I have been at this a long time, and just do not understand that. I believe those of us who find this appalling need to let DCI know, because there is an issue somewhere. I plan on beginning my letter tomorrow morning.

I clicked on this thread hoping to find a discussion about my favorite 2010 show. I was hoping we could get back to that soon. I am very excited to see SCV's closer. The whole piece is one of my favorites. Anyone else care to head us back in the right direction.
