  1. Check my signature. (Edit....lol just realized I didn't have what instrument I play, but ya I'm a drummer). Been drumming for awhile. Yes the strap drumstick swinging part was interesting.......but not enough to really get a WOW. It was kind of more a hmm cool.
  2. My perspective was there wasn't really anything like "cool" about it. Yes it was clean and I'm not trying to discredit members, but it was just kind of meh. Even though it was using 9/11 to an advantage Scouts had ESOM at the end to get people going, Phantom had their whole show, Bluecoats opener, Boston's ballad. That's just my opinion, but ya just nothing that really was memorable.
  3. 2011 Boston Baritone. Blew my mind and almost ran out of oxygen holding my breath.
  4. I have to agree with a comment made earlier. Madison seems loud, but a finger on a synth can create a massive amount of added volume. And yes they seemed to be forcing it a lot. That's not a bash seeing as I marched there, I'm just saying they don't have the talent to build the full sound like Phantom yet.
  5. I don't like saying this, but I'm going with Blue Devils winning. Otherwise I am going to go with the best shows getting high scores and the less well done shows getting lower scores. That might be a little far out but that's just my guess.
  6. Marched Mapex last year. Everything broke and our Stars veteran snare tech could not figure out how to make them sound better. Otherwise don't have any experience to comment.
  7. I have to say I can't recommend taking a year off. In 2008 my corps folded. I sat on my butt all summer and watched other people marching and even though I had only marched a year before that and I was 15, it was still hard to WATCH drum corps shows without being in them. Then in 2010 I didn't march for about half the year and jumped into Kilties as a hole filler. Granted it wasn't by choice but not being in DCI was a hard experience. Then this year I was once again cut from the corps I wanted to march (long story for that) and almost decided that DCI was just not worth it. Then a good friend of mine told me that the decision really comes down to your future. This choice is YOURS to make. Just make sure that you have no regrets on your decision. You want to be able to look back and not regret taking the summer off. Just think of that before you make this choice. Trust me. Your heart and having no regrets will not lead you astray.
  8. Ahem. My dad marched in 1981-1982 with Phantom Regiment. I grew up only knowing the old madison scouts of the power eras. I've been instructed by 2 Madison Scouts snares from those days. One happens to be Jeff Spanos. So I do know all the power history of how strong the scouts are. What I meant was that there always seem to be that one corps that everyone is hoping to see climb up the ladder. Crown has been that favorite for the last few years. Now Scouts have stepped back into the spotlight of the underdog crowd favorite. I'm not comparing history of the corps or styles. I just meant it as there is always that corps that people are hoping to see climb up to fight for a top spot.
  9. This sort of goes to everyone. Is maimed close enough? Or do they have to really die? Like can they just like break their leg at the end or does it have to be a blade of some sort going through their chest?
  10. Maybe not an entire show being awful, but i'm sure DCP would admit there have been awful moments. NOT directed at BD. Kind of just an overarching statement of the history of DCI.
  11. I assume you meant Pio? If you don't know the story behind my corps movements then i understand that comment. If you do then you'd never say anything to me about what corps i march with. (PM me if you want). And I agree the shows I've marched never had extremely WOOO moments. I can proudly admit that. But don't you ever, ever disrespect where I've marched without understanding my story.
  12. Now since this is blue devils did you mean the smokey smell everyone knows? (Sorry had to do that). Otherwise the music seems very interesting and I'll try to keep an open mind. Honestly I haven't read much about the whole 99% crap so i can't say stick to them or not, but i do feel that politics DO NOT have a place in DCI. That also kind of is directed at the 2010 Cavies with the somewhat subdued attack at the government and anti war. Just my thought. Don't mean to offend or drag in a political debate.
  13. I've seen a few groups allowing their tenor players to use the stands for when they are just standing in the lot but have the snares and basses still using the carriers. I find this a very respectable median to using stands or carriers because I know that tenor players backs get truly screwed up the more they carry them.
  14. Socks got wet during a rain rehersal and put them in a plastic bag so my other stuff wouldn't get wet. Forgot them and they fermented till i accidentally opened the bag to the stench. New word: travesty
