  1. What happens when SV and BD cadets make the top 12 in World Class bumping out Phantom etc. ? Will that be fair? What next BD SV cadet C? By 2050 they'll have all top six spots covered.
  2. Actually I spelled it right in the title and not in the post. I can see how that makes a lot of difference. LOL Anyway, I've been in the activity for 50 years, just don't forum normally. It itched long enough and I scratched it.
  3. OK, you got me, their B Corps did not dominate the lower division the entire time but what a great new perk. Now a grass roots Corps out there somewhere east has even less of a chance to make it.
  4. The initial advantage in 70s was style. Judging changed to prefer a flashier show and there was less credit given to percision. Some corps adapted, others didn't and the bias became greater over time because of money. Winners have more access to funding in various directions. So, you might see an exceptional talent emerge in the hinterlands but eventually better monitary offers lure them away and the advantage swings back west. The real competition right now is at 4th place maybe 3rd. Corps that make it to that level did something exceptional. BD on the other hand just needs to look a lot like BD to win. Everyone else has to look better.
  5. How can a 40 year dominance in two divisions be good for any activity? BD and to great extent California is DCI. They started out in the 70s with a large initial advantage and that advantage has built upon itself over decades. Subjective judging has leaned primarily towards one style and now rule changes are proposed to make that subjective bias even worse. DCI isn't a sport it is an exhibition with BD and sometimes SCV the featured act. If everybodies OK with that, carry on.
  6. Regarding The Cavalier loss due to penalty in 1966 to the Troopers at VFW Nationals. The penalty was due to a flag code violation. The squad with the American flag made a squad turn and for a second the Illinois flag was in front of the American flag. Had they all just did an about face, the Cavaliers would have won. The odd thing is we were penalized for the same thing in the prelims, thought we had fixed it and were wrong. No dropped equipment, we didn't drop equipment. Anyway, I know all this because I was there. We won American Legion Nationals. I think the Troopers came in third or fourth.
